The racks on top carry my grumman square back canoe (quote)
Kurbmaster the rack seems to attached by the drip rail? how much weight can it hold?my thoughts are storage pod ,solar panels small alum john boat, with a canoe it would be so long-john would be overboard

drip rail
I don't know how much weight it will hold but we used the racks with 2x6s on top of them and three adults standing on them as a rolling scaffold to help build an airplane hanger one time. So they hold a lot. Drip rails are solid on that vehicle

Hi Long John
I don't know about a ac dash that would be nice. I just use fans when I am on the road and the roof top air when I am stopped. If you find an in dash conversion for ac let me know.

Winterizing for the winter
Just winterized the kurbmaster for the winter. Sad to put it away for this extended time. Can't wait till I can go south for the winter. Having a job sucks.

salt will eat you alive on the east coast
Even though the body is aluminum the undercarriage is not and don't want to subject it to the salt. It is fully insulated and is comfortable in cold weather but it isn't worth it to me to subject to the corrosion.
The van took first place in at the 2010 truck in in greenwich ny in the camper division.

Well...you COULD always pressure wash the undercarriage when you get home.kurbmaster wrote:it isn't worth it to me to subject it to the corrosion.
but now that I think about it...you're back in NY. You guys have REAL winter back there!!!

Re: 1976 Grumman Stepvan motorhome conversion
Another season is over in the northeast. Instead of using the pink stuff in the water system to prevent freezing of the pipes I tried blowing all the water out. I hope it works .
To all of you moving down to warmer climates have fun I am still working.

The HAMB is a great forum. Maybe someday we can have a little step van rally. I'll have to wait till I retire.

Re: 1976 Grumman Stepvan motorhome conversion
Just got back from a week trip to Rhode Island . Everything worked great . Got 9mpg the new water heater with a switch to light it on inside was a great addition. After a week of running the 36 year old refridgerator only a 1/3 of the propane tank was used.
Was wondering if anybody has run a coleman mini mach 7100 btu air conditioner on a 2000 watt generator. I have an old Honda 2200 watt and it is loud. Might think about replacing it with the new quieter ones.
