Great story, Mr. Sharkey. I'm really enjoying it. It brings back some of my memories too.

Hi, Thanks for the responses! I appreciate what you said, J_nigrelli, but what do you recommend for the best value? I don't mind using sheet vinyl, but don't know where I would get it. Vinyl siding seems like it would have too many places the water could get into when going 1000 MPH down the hiway. ...

Movin' that way
I took a welding class before Christmas in preparation for building a 5th wheel or gooseneck camping trailer. I've been welding up everything I can find to try to get better at it. I've been scoping all I can about the motorized home thing and a trailer seems most practical for what we want to do. I...

Strange how that works! I've found myself repeating situations throughout my life. Some of which I should have known better than to do. I guess you unconsciously are drawn into repeating things and don't realise it until you are way into it. Of course some things are worth repeating! And I guess you...

We used a cistern at one place I lived, collecting water from the roof. We had a lot of trouble keeping the bacteria level down. Had to add a lot of chlorine, which seemed a shame. Sharkey, if you collected a bucket of water directly out of the spring, would it have sediment floating around in it? S...

Sharkey, I'm not trying to sound know-it-all but I have worked on several systems just like yours. That poly pipe has a limited lifespan in those situations. It may be better to just run new pipe and leave the old one where it is rather than futz forever with it. Depends on how far the run is, I gue...

Sharkey, et al, The way the best spring setups were built here in the Appalachians have 2 components. The spring is surrounded by a small cast-in-place concrete box with a pipe near the bottom and one near the top. This spring box has a removable cover. The top pipe is for overflow. The bottom one i...

Ouch! Sorry about the ankle, Sharkey. Seems like whenever I get in a fizz about all the things I have to do I hurt myself. I think it's my subconscious telling me to slow down and take one thing at a time. Rome wasn't built in a day. It took about a week and a half, didn't it? The old people in the ...
