always talking about how loud the turbo's are..Most wear hearing protection. Hercules + turbo "whistler" = deaf quick. I think it's the B-model turbo that got the "whistler" name, and the C-model that isn't as bad for the turbo noise. Love these old trucks. They go anywhere, and...

This is true... but to the uninitiated, trying to make a self-starting long-running device that seemingly has no real power source (preposterous... hot and cold air running an engine! :P) ... well, that's close enough for some to consider it perpetual motion. :D I've seen a lot of the type you descr...

Mark,

Let's hope not... I still have yet to buy mine, and it's been a lifelong dream. :)

Congrats on your sale, hope it was uneventful. Truly a beautiful gem you had there.

Hey Sharkey... How much time does it take a panel that size to produce steam? What volume of steam could it provide if fed enough water to replenish the expansion of the steam out the far side? I've been tinkering a lot lately with the idea of a solar-heated-water-jacket/well-cooled-water-jacket pow...

Wow, Chad... That is fantastic!

I was just thinking a few weeks ago how neat it would be to build one on a 40+ foot lowboy trailer.

God knows I'll never find the time or money to do that, though... Thumbs up on your hard work! Thanks for sharing!

Hey Navservice,

I'd love to see a video from the cab of you shifting that beast of a transmission.

Is that something you could provide?

Call me crazy but my most favorite road trips of all time have been in vehicles that one would think lacked sufficient amenity, comfort, or power. :D

The others will certainly have more valid info to your points. I just wanted to say, if it's been a winter runner, and 40+ yrs old, you're likely to find some unmitigated rust... that would certainly need to be tended to, and could be a bigger project than you'd want. The other problem would be part...

I dig Wayzalot's style. After getting in to the "Quad Box" videos someone posted on this site of an old Mack B61 and it's 20-speed trans, I started toying with the idea of a classic truck pulling a custom trailer instead of a housetruck or bus idea... The pics of Wayzalot don't tend to sho...

Wow, that transmission looks like an adventure in itself. :) I'd imagine that with an empty bus, you could easily just leave the hi/lo in hi, and shift 2-4-6-8-10-12, but you probably already know that. :) I've heard the same sort of things Elden mentioned for why not to use high range/gears when in...

Hopefully you got some rest after doing all that late night early morning inspection work!

Can't wait to read more about your bus and see some photos of the oddities you revealed this morning.

Best of luck!
