Re: Kaea gets new home, as someone else's new home
From what I've seen about San Francisco bay, 90% of the boats in any marina get taken out less than twice a year, and I may estimating the usage too high... That's whole bunch of money flowing into the harbor office for close to zero active benefit to the owners - a lot to pay for a dream symbol. Gr...

Re: Different Wisdom
I thought FRP = Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic = (common name) fiberglass... GRP = Glass Reinforced Plastic = (common name) fiberglass... Don't know what those 4x8 sheets at the box stores are made like. Maybe just grind a little, see how deep that smooth gel coat goes; normally when fabbing fibergla...

> 8" short... Hmm. A real pro welder _might_ be able to fill that gap... But it'd take time and beer. <GG> Your plumbing tree looks great. I like the service (main shut off) valve as close to the place where water enters as possible (as long as it's accessible) because it's your emergency shut-...

> plumbing I think I'd put the "first" valve, the main service valve that cuts off water to the whole shebang, immediately after the exterior hose connector, not after the Pressure Reducing Valve. Use as few valves as possible - save space, reduce complexity. You don't need service shut-of...

If it would be _just_ for appearance _and_ you'd rather tin over the openings you might get 85%+ of the appearance with a faux window paint job...
Just an idea. <g>

The sail cloth itself is pretty sure Dacron and IIRC sun doesn't matter to it - but the _thread_ stitching the sail together is polyester (most...

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus
Jack Your method sounds plausible to me. Only issue might be the filler cracking over time if the joint flexes much. Should still hold fine but water might start to be a problem. But I don't know squat myself. I just ran across some _real_ psychos making their own body panels and spent time reading ...

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus
Can't recall if you clarified this before... Looks like you're skip welding the sheet metal, that's clear. Doesn't look like you hammered any of the welds but not sure I can really tell from the pics. Am I right to assume you're going to fill in the spots all along the seams? The hood looks like a l...

That computes, I guess. The sheer in the rendering looks OK but that transom resembles a barn door. Can't help thinking there must be some consequences there. I guess double-ended it would have less interior and make for a more difficult build.

Re: New housetruck in construction
I think quite a few people these days feel a mobile bedroom meets their needs with a coffee maker for wet mornings an extra points option. Works well for "car camping" as many sites have decent facilities, especially if you "eat out" a lot.
