Re: Lostranger
How nice to be missed. I tried to post something last summer, and I couldn't find the site. Another try a week or so later brought same result. I assumed someone had taken it down, so I stopped looking. Sorry. We still live in the bus, but we've bought a bit of land and gotten livestock. That plus e...

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus
Gotta tell somebody. I had to put (my cat) down today and I am sad. Jack, even though I'm not a cat person, you have my deep condolences. About three years ago, we thought for 16 hours that we'd lost our Kora. My world was a dark place during that time, and I hate to hear that yours is now. Thanks ...

Re: Different Wisdom
Greetings all, I'm gearing up to pull my engine and major the DD S-40. All because I was running the bus without the interlock engaged one beautiful Sunday afternoon last September. A small coolant hose broke, and I was busy driving the narrow, winding road. By the time I noticed we were hot, we wer...

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus
Honeysuckle Rose looks marvelous on the cover of February's Bus Conversions Magazine. And to think that we got to watch it happen. Congratulations, Jack, on an honor that is well deserved. We're so proud.

Re: Different Wisdom
Hey, Dusty. Great to hear from you. I've been wondering about your repower. Any progress? Some of you are on busconversions.com. If not, here's a link to a piece I posted there Monday of this week. I warn you that it's long. It does talk more about the engine overhaul I'm planning. And other stuff. ...

Re: Different Wisdom
Faithful readers will no doubt recall that when last we heard from the intrepid (insipid?) hillbilly, he was facing the aftermath of allowing his Detroit Diesel Series 40 to overheat. Big time! The kind of damage that allows mass quantities of water into the oil. As Yule Brenner said to Sanka Coffee...

Re: Different Wisdom
Just when I thought I all the pieces in place to finish the paint, I have other problems. We had the bus out to the lake last Sunday afternoon when a small coolant hose broke. By the time I noticed what was happening, we were overheated. Seriously. Took a couple hours to get water in to drive home. ...

Re: 1955 Chevy 6700 Bus RV
Welcome aboard. Give us more photos, please. Inside and out. The next time you break a stud, weld a nut onto it. The nut gives you something to turn, and the heat from welding usually breaks the rust bond. You can use any stick or wire feed welder. If you don't have one, you probably know someone wh...

Best of luck with your toad stuff, Dick. We loved the old 4 Runner we used to have. I seem to recall that it was an '87. I can see where one would make an excellent dinghy.somewhereinusa wrote: So along comes an offer to trade the Rabbit for a 98 Toyota 4 runner.

Re: Different Wisdom
After months of reacting to "unplanned circumstances" (wouldn't that make a great name for an autobiography), I had all but given up on getting the bus paint finished this year. I'm pleased to report that we now have a glimmer of hope, and that glimmer is the color of an ice cream truck. M...

So.... The toad plot thickens. While researching body parts for my CJ5, I ended up buying this CJ7: http://i62.tinypic.com/2pzcjn8.jpg 1983. Mostly good tub and frame. Much better than the 5. Includes excellent hood and grill, brand new fenders and brand new windshield. Mainly needs a motor, and I s...
