Hmmm. Can't remember what kinda brakes your bus has. Air or Hydraulic? If hydraulic, then what kind of parking brake? Maybe it was left on? A 10 or 12 mile ride probably wouldn't involve enough hard braking to cause properly functioning brakes to get hot enough to smoke, I think. But a parking brake...

Welcome Crazac,
I think you'll find this to be a unique place, with lots of good info. A place populated by some intelligent and easy-going folks. Enjoy.

Thanks for the pics. The first few I recognize from South Bend, and several are rigs belonging to friends and acquaintances. About number 6 down, the green Brockway 10-wheeler with the box (blue/green murals) on back belongs to my friend Dave, who I made the trip to South Bend with. This trip he dro...

Mike, the Pleasanton show was a bit too far for me. I've been to 5 of the national shows now, and love camping in my rig while there, but I'm not sure I'll be able to make many more of them. Might be able to make Springfield, MO, in 2014. The show is in a different place every year, rotating from we...

Shakedown trip for the '55 Metro

I left here Tuesday afternoon, 5/24, and drove to Cookeville, TN, where one of my trucking cohorts met me on Wednesday morning. We drove to South Bend, IN, for the ATHS National Convention and Truck Show for a few days of hanging out with our old friends and old trucks. By chance I made the front pa...

Dick, thanks for the warning.
Sounds like you might be a car-hauler? I hauled cars for about 5 years, up until May, 2009. Still missing that life. Hope you do well.

Tmax, this is a good place for your link. I've been waking up for a couple years now myself. And I suspect we're only about 20 or 30 years behind Sharkey and a few others whose online writings I've been reading as part of my education. After the oil-crunch of '73/'74 (forgot which), I got rid of a 3...

4-day training session over for now.

I don't know if news from this part of the country gets out to your part of the world or not, but we've had some rough weather here in the Southeast. Tornadoes, this time deadly. Not sure of the toll, maybe 300 or more. It's been a few years since they've been this bad here. We were somewhat surpris...

Good job Rudy! It does feel good to know you've corrected a problem and improved your bus'es chances for a long and happy life. I'm sending you all the good vibes available, and right now, my mind is just about right.

Yep. The man's a real whiz, and I'd love to have him for a neighbor. But I doubt he's gonna move to this part of the world anytime soon.

Nose and ears keep growing, and the only reason I can think of is to make us look like the old ugly bastards that we are.
Least that's what I think, could be wrong.
