Rudy, it is good to find a group of like minded folks to share neat stuff with! The older we get, the harder it is to live by our wits, since I myself am getting rather short of them. I think I expended to many valuable brains cells by breathing too many welding fumes and breathing in too much wood ...

Home to us is Joseph/Enterprise Oregon, up in the mountains in the NE corner of the state. We also own a place down in SW Idaho, on highway 95 about two miles north of the small town of Parma which is about 45 miles west of Boise. Parma is just east of the Snake River which is the border between Ore...

Well Sharkey, that possible loss of brakes issue further compounds my dilema because the deuce trucks have air over hydraulic brakes, and do not have a dual system master brake cylinder like more modern vehicles. So if you lose a wheel cylinder, brake fluid hose or master cylinder you are headed for...

Runaway Home- the book that started it all for me as a kid

This is the book that started it all for me years ago. I own the 1942 and 1957 editions. In about the 4th grade I got a hold of this 6th grade "Alice and Jerry series" reading book and was captivated by the story of the family that traveled from the east coast to a new life in Washington s...

Hey Rudy- check out my previous post, with your valuable help I figured out how to post two pics. There just might be hope for the "hopelessly technologically challenged" persons like myself after all! Thanks Rudy! Until later- Dennis (or DB as my friends call me, or dburt as in my user ID...

Rudy- you are right, Sharkey is a very hard act to follow. The only "build" I have done of a mobile dwelling is an 8-foot camper I built while in college, and then a new 1976 Ford van during the van craze. But I was really smitten by the rolling homes in the book by the same name during th...

Sharkey the ink slinger- par excellance!!

Sharkey, I started reading your first chapters regarding 32 years living in a mobile dwelling, and could not stop until forced to do so by the end of chapter 3. So when is the next installment?? You can sling ink with the best of 'em! It all takes me back to those "good old days". I too le...

Ok, looks like I will have to wait, but it will be with baited breath (whatever that means?) or with much anticipation! Those stories and pictures take me back to a more simple and innocent (?) time of life, when projects equaled adventures. We just dove into things and adjusted as we went along. No...

Hey Sharkey- anymore pics and stories about Grace the bus??

Sharkey, I recently discovered the forum here on your site and got into reading "The Grace Chronicles" as I call them. They are very interesting and your stories are good, so do you have anymore to add?? I kinda' got hooked on the pics and narative and am having withdrawal symptoms, so you...

Nice work Rudy! I can tell you are a craftsman from the old school, and it does not hurt that you work in a custom RV/motorhome factory where they do things the old school way also! No short cuts there, everything must be done top flight!

bus motorhome build

I have been visiting Mr Sharkey's for quite a few years now, and I am glad to find the forum! I really like the hippie era truck and bus "rolling homes" since I am kinda from that era. Should have bought the book "Rolling Homes" back in the '70's when they were cheap, I agnonized...
