Re: Happy Holidays from the desert

Interesting view point Jerry , nice old bus , great solar array.

Desert looks interesting too , like maybe it floods there sometimes.

Re: Different Wisdom

As an interum measure , get some bubble wrap and tape it over the glass, tape all the way around the edges. it will still let light in but is a good , tho ugly , insulator.

Re: Different Wisdom

I have a roof frame member directly over the ideal location for the stove, but a couple elbows in the pipe won't hurt. Elbow add great character to the fire :) but they do gather the soot , so your flue cleaning brush will need to be suitable . Either that or be prepared to throw a small chook down...

I found that flue temp was a determining factor for the fire to smoke or not when the door is opened . The hotter the flue , the better the draw.

Re: Different Wisdom

That looks great , while you are considering improvements for the next version , consider a larger flue , you may well find that the 4" is forever getting clogged and needing sweeping . My fire in the range is smaller than this and my flue is 6" . I still have to do frequent cleaning , mos...

Re: Different Wisdom

Hmmm ... it's amazing how bad this looks in the light of 20yrs of use and a couple of hasty repaints . LOL However it never leaked. I cut the roof and the inside lining for a tight fit with the outer flue , the outer roof hole is just a little smaller than the flue then gently hammered up a little t...

Re: Different Wisdom

Leave an air gap (1") between the inner and outer flue.

Have the outer go several inches below and above the roof.

I could take a pic of my finished instal if it would help.

Re: The Maid Of Dreams, The Star Of This Year's Bedford Rall

I remember this lovely old Bedford from when we were doing some of the gypsy fair circuit, back in the mid 90's. The Romains were doing some work on it , getting it ready to be legally on the road. I found an entry from the diary in the "house truckers news" http://i43.tinypic.com/rkovuq.j...

Re: Dusty's Bus

Stopped at Lake Pukaki to look at Mt Cook (NZ highest at 12,349ft) A difficult thing to photograph , because it is normally hidden by cloud and today , because the tourists were hogging the view , looking at the truck LOL ... I had to wait for ages.. http://i39.tinypic.com/28kn61e.jpg closer http://...
