Re: 1935 Chevy school bus

Hello All. Riaggren, thanks for the tip on the strap material--you must have seen the bow tie knot in the pic of the wiring. That was only temporary while I finished up the rough electric and I agree that the strap material you suggest is the way to go. Mark, I know that the electric usually is on t...

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus

Hey Tango and all. I don't really have anything new to post but I thought I'd share a couple of pics of the shore power from the back side so you have a visual of the adaptor and the 180 degree issue. Tango, bring me up to date on youe engine/tranny instal. Any luck finding a PS box etc? I know what...

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus

Hello All. Dick, thanks for the link on temp controls. I've e-mailed them and am waiting for a response. While waiting I did some more work on the house electric. It seems that shore power is usually hard wired into the RV (at least in S&S) and that works fine if you have room for a locker to st...

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus

Hello all, I've migrated back to working on temp control in my genny box. I can't seem to find a thermocouple that one, reacts anywhere near its advertized specs and two has a recovery rate of less than about thirty degrees. So far i've made quite a collection of thermocouples without luck. I'm now ...

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus

Thanks Somewhere. If it isn't a lot of effort for you it would be fun to see the wiring you used. I played with a wiring schematic last night but there are several ways to skin a cat. I wish I had better computer skills and while I was able to view your video I was not able to make it go full screen...

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus

Thanks for the tip Somewhere. I'd be interested to see how you set up your door lock--I can invision a LA, a bell crank and a prowl as a locking mechanisn though. With the three position lock I could open/close and lock my door with one key. Jack

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus

Hello All, I usually jump from pillar to post because I have to finisnh something here to allow me to do something else there--not this weekend--I can't say what prompted me to go back to the house wiring but I did. I more or less got the three electrical systems roughed in, inverter, genny and shor...

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus

Hello All. I'm all excited, I finished the electrical for my pneumatic door today and now both the air part and the electrical stuff all work. I tested the operation to see how many door openings and closings I could get between the compressor runs. I can open and close the door (door not built yet ...

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus

Thanks Tango. The only difference I can see is that the logo is in a different place. I'm sure the whole thing would fit just fine. I'll probably use what I have but will keep an eye on the '36 grill--a guy can never have too many grills! I see you are back to playing bus so you must have survived t...

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus

Hello All. I got the wire harness installed in the dash today. I'll have to lengthen 12 wires to allow the cruise control switches to be convenient to the driver otherwise the install went smothly. I made up the front floorboard including its 5/8" thick rubber sound supressor plus an inch of al...

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus

Hello All. Not much to show for the days work today. I finished up the home made "Dyna Mat" on the fire wall and installed the 5/8 " thick rubber gym floor mat that I use for sound suppression. The rest of the day was spent lifting the floppy four piece hood on and off the engine comp...

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus

Hello All. I pulled the cowl out of the rust removal tank and treated it with Rustmort. I did the same with the original firewall and today fabed up the front of the cowl as needed to deal with the engine etc. Now I can weld the whole thing to the bus body which will then allow me to finalize the da...

Re: Another newbe

Hey Somewhere, Your project is comming along nicely. Given a little more time and you will have the most comfy bus in the fleet! Good luck with your first application of the bus for its intended use-I'm sure it will do just fine. When you say "no heat at all" do you include the bus heater ...

Re: Different Wisdom

Hey Lostranger, it was worth the wait on the doors. As good as you are with metal I don't think you will have any trouble getting the curvature you need. Although it is a little cavemanish, I've had success making a gentle bend in sheet metal using a 4X4 and plastic pipe of various diameters for rol...

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus

Hello All. I spent the day setting up my rust removal bath so I could clean up some surface rust that developed on my '35 Chevy body parts during the 2 years since the first treatment. I won't go into great detail becaust the science behind electyolytic rust removal is well documented on the interne...
