Re: 1989 S1600 White Rhino

Here's a reposting of some pics and a video: The holes in the floor of the box: http://img543.imageshack.us/img543/6393/floor001.jpg The patches using 3M 5000 Fast Cure adhesive/sealant and .25mm aluminum. My helper used a small wire brush to clean out the holes and steel wool to clean the areas sur...

Re: How's Dusty?

I think Dusty had posted up a graph of the recent quake. No love for Christchurch but at least no one died this time. =(

Re: Database Crash

Ouch! :banghead:

I have no idea what kind of a pain it is but maybe back up once a week? I can see that the postings in my White Rhino thread were cut off during the insulation debate which was rather active but that was 3 weeks ago.

Re: 1989 S1600 White Rhino

The foil backed bubble wrap is a barrier to radiant heat and only covers that part of the heat and cold intrusion. (Metal walls on the box do the same thing.) If you have a fiberglass top, then this will help, but still need the foam board on all sides for the "rest" of the heat/cold comi...

Re: 1989 S1600 White Rhino

I got mine from fleabay but yep, no trim rings on any of them. Tomorrow I go get the rest of the materials needed to build 16' of the raised floor, then it gets built and installed. Once the floor is in I'll be able to get things measured and set up for the windows and side door. Hopefully I'll get ...

Re: 1989 S1600 White Rhino

Correction time! I had assumed that the windows were the same as the doors with lots of screw holes in them. They are not. Now I have to figure out how to secure these windows and so far the only way I see to do it is by screwing through the sides into the sections of FRP I cut out for them to sit i...

Re: Too much time, too much $$$ and no sense

I'm not an art deco type but I do wish they had a descriptive build thread. I'd love to know some of the techniques they use.

Re: 1989 S1600 White Rhino

keep going forward  Indeed indeed! The weather has been nice enough that the arthritis isn't nearly an issue and one horse pill sized ibuprofen does the trick! I've rearranged quite a bit of the mess that was in the box and it's now enough that I can actually do some work! Today I'm going ...

Re: 1989 S1600 White Rhino

I should have got a bunkwarmer. While the pad is "okay" it's not adequate enough for his old bones on freezing and below nights. As soon as either my auction money or disability comes in I'll be able to get the rest of the materials to fully frame and insulate the box. I've been very frust...

Thanks. I couldn't quite figure out why it didn't make sense being it doesn't really "generate" anything.

Re: 1989 S1600 White Rhino

I've had a small break of luck if that's what it can be called. I was very worried about my cat being out in the cold since he's been an indoor cat all his life and he's an old man now. He's been very out of sorts(understandably) and I was also concerned for his mental well being as he's a very pers...

Humless

Is anyone familiar with the Humless portable systems? I ran across this on Vandwellers and was curious about them.

Re: 1989 S1600 White Rhino

I'm sad to say that I may have to give up on this project. It will be a huge loss if I do but it seems that Mr. Murphy has taken a shine to me and is not leaving. Virtually everything I touch seems to end in some kind of disaster. Most recently, my leg isn't healing properly and the huge lump isn't ...
