Re: 1954 Fageol Van conversion..

Nice conversion with a lot of attention to details.

But one has to wonder, with all the attention to details one has to wonder why they used cheesy cheap RV tail lights.

With all of the new LED lighting options out there that don't cost all that much more...

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus

Redbear I just finished reading your latest post a couple of times. I have to admit that I still have no idea as to what you just wrote. I know how to wire stuff up so that it wil work. With help I can usually ever get it correct the first time. But my experience in regards to LED's is purchasing re...

Re: House truck in Hebrew..

Nice looking housetruck. My only comment is it looks to be a bit overweight. Everything he has is still on only six 16" tires and wheels. 16" tires and wheels, regardless of the load rating will only be able to support a given amount of weight. When one considers how much real wood and the...

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus

I know one of the places that Avion RV's are prone to leak is where the awnings mount. In order for the mounting brackets to sit flush with the skin of the trailer a couple of the skin rivets are removed. Over time the loss of those rivets allows the skin to move and to work the sealant between the ...

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus

What Tango said! We moved up to a 1981 Avion 34V, a 34.5' long three axle trailer this last summer. When you are a person who would be considered among the large economy sized and is married to another person who also would be considered among the large economy sized, small spaces just don't work. A...

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus

I like the fact you labeled everything with direction arrows. I always say I will remember but I never do if it was any length of time since the last time. I just wish I had a smidgeon of your talent and skill set. I am not bad at rough stuff but finish work of any kind is just not in my skill set. ...

Re: somewhereinUSA out and about

I am glad you think losing headlights in Chicago is a minor problem. :) Most of the time the problem is in the dimmer switch which is an easy fix with parts available just about anywhere. If it is a headlight switch problem it still is a relatively easy fix if you can get to the switch. Nice build o...

Re: Different Wisdom

Glad to see you are out and about using your bus. One criticism about transits is the lack of space under the floor available for tankage and storage. You have solved the tankage issue very elegantly. Your door looks outstanding but in the latest pictures I can't see the door knob. How do you open a...

Re: Should I be concerned?

I would be concerned but not concerned enough to swap things out right now.

I would make sure I had an extra length of hose just in case the worst happens.

And until that does, I would just go out and have some fun.

Re: First post - late model Thomas Saf-T-Liner C2?

Mulitplexing is the new way in which most equipment is wired. Instead of a single wire going from a switch to a heater or light or whatever, the signal for several different functions are carried on the same wire. In theory it works really well. In the field it works most of the time. But when stray...

I know you discovered windows were going to be prohibitively expensive.

Have you thought about installing some windows in the sides of the slide that wouldn't be seen when the slide is in?

That just looks like a lot of dark without any windows.

Re: Different Wisdom

Just as a suggestion, don't put 24-volt into anything unless you are 100% sure it is 24-volt.

If it is 12-volt it tends to let the smoke out of the wires when you put 24-volt to it. Don't ask me how I know that is true. :)

Re: Different Wisdom

I have seen a lot of buses but I have yet to see a DDEC or ATEC that was 24-volt.

One learns something new every day.

Re: Different Wisdom

Any particular reason why 24-volt lighting? In my experience the 24-volt lights don't light any better than the 12-volt. In addition you pay more than double the price of the 12-volt for the 24-volt. You also run into the problem of availability. 12-volt bulbs, even 12-volt LED bulbs are available j...

Re: First post - late model Thomas Saf-T-Liner C2?

The C2 has had some real teething problems. The huge front windshields have had leakage problems. And like all windshields they do get broken. But unlike the standard flat glass of days gone by, replacement of those big windshields are not easy or inexpensive. Thomas also first started using multipl...
