Re: Hay, and the unroller.

Thanks for the update--you've been busy it would seem. I'll try to write up our fall/winter travels this season. Thanks for the nudge.

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus

We finally get to go camping mid month--2 day minimum. Camp ground must not want to clean the "room" for just one day. We won't be taking Clarence (toad) and his tent trailer this time as while I was recuperating I designed a set of shock absorbers for the torsion axles on the tent trailer...

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus

I wish I had been able to get new decals. Since I couldn't, I took a screen shot from the correct stove on ebay, printed it up on real thin smooth finish paper and embedded it in casting resin on the stove. Once set I did a bit of color sanding and a quick buff and they look pretty much like the ori...

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus

Hello all. Just got back from a few days camping in a local County park. It was a bit warm at 95 degrees but it cooled down to the 60's at night. . https://i.postimg.cc/nzQGVXsx/IMG-4871.jpg . https://i.postimg.cc/J485m4Rw/IMG-5527.jpg Our camping friends went with us. They have just acquired a smal...

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus

Hello All. As usual I’m stuck in the 30’s. This time however it’s the 1830’s. I had become enamored of the pneumatic parallelogram plug bus door mechanism often found on shuttle buses and adapted one for use on my bus. The mechanism opens by pushing the door out a couple of inches and then sliding i...

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus

Actually I didn't use a piezio igniter but rather an electronic igniter which uses a battery to charge up (and discharge) a small coil to produce the spark. The one I used can fire 6 electrodes simultaneously and having only used 5 I thought I might use the sixth as a deterrent on the entry door. Ha...

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus

Hello All. We finally got tired of lighting the stove burners on the Magic Chef stove with a match or a spark wand. The matches are scary and wifey's hands aren't strong to make the spark lighter work which results in a BIG whoosh when she finally does. My hands are too strong and I keep snapping of...

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus

Hello All. The plan was to go to the local tire shop I've used for the past 35 years and have new tires put on my bus. However, when I arrived I learned that a long time employee--the one who did parts ordering and all the billing-- had died of melanoma and the shop felt like a run away train. Since...

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus

Hello All--and all the "bots" as well! What with this Covid 19 thing still holding on getting much camping done has been problematic. We only go out for 1 or 2 days at a time and then only mid week as our favorite campground is empty at that time. We do miss the social aspect of meeting ne...

Dusty, after photobucket went pay only I began using Postimage which has remained free. You might want to take a look at it.

Re: Dusty's Bus

Hi Dusty! Glad to hear from you and to see you getting back into the swing of things. Cool about the instant start up! We are packing the bus for an over night campout at a local county park tomorrow. Being mid week I doubt there will be many others so I hope we can stay one step ahead of cv 19. As ...

SC, you're welcome anytime. I've always looked forward to your posts and comments and I hope when things settle down for you that you will do another bus and share it here.

I'll try to post more regularly myself. Jack

Re: Covid-19

In our community of about 350,000 people we are faced with a higher C19 infection rate than several other local communities. This seems to be related to the close working and living parameters of our agricultural field workers. Not as bad as with the meat packing industry but still not good. Our pol...

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus

HONEYSUCKLE ROSE GOES TO KOA Wifey wandered in from her gallery last evening with this water color of a school bus in the rain. She told me that it is similar to a painting by Merve Corning which became a cover picture on a 1970's Westways (AAA) magazine. Because of cv19 we haven't been able to camp...
