Re: Older Motorhomes

We're cleaning and fixing Rob's Fleury again, Flying Tortoise has the updated pictures and I asked him very sweetly to post them on the project Fleury thread. We are doing a complete makeover this time, got new cushions and curtains out of an Aspen, took the carpet out and FINALLY fixed that FOUL sm...

Re: Esmerelda's End of the Week Soup

This soup just keeps changing, tonight it's chicken broth, crushed tomatoes and noodles, or maybe yams and curry, I haven't decided yet. I am finally gaining weight, I've put on 20 of the 40 pounds I need so I'm half way there and Rick is having trouble sweeping me off my feet since I got heavier! :...

Project Fleury

Hi Gang, I hope that some of you remember my friend Rob's Fleury from Rudy's thread about Older Motor Homes. I'm now storing it for Rob and we spent Weds. through today working on it, checking all the propane stuff and we had to do a little plumbing because one of the copper water lines froze and sp...

Re: China Cloud

I currently have 2 books out of our local library and they both feature China Cloud, one is "Builders of the Pacific Coast by Lloyd Kahn and the other is Salt on the Wind which tells of the adventures of Allen Farrell and his wife Sharie and all the boats they built together.

Cheers :)

Re: SF boat living

Hi Rufus, Sure wish I could live on Anastar, great marina, great crew, helpful and great neighbours. Most of the live aboards are over 30 ft, but I could make Anastar home--just need silly Roly to teach me to use the stove. If he don't come home from the other end of the province and Rick doesn't qu...

Re: Changes at Miracle Acre

Strawberries by the quart, weeds by the bucket full. The garden is doing well and so are the weeds. It's been quite warm here the last few days so we've been taking things slowly but getting chores done. The strawberries sure are nice in a smoothie at the end of the day and I'm enjoying them. My pea...

Re: Changes at Miracle Acre

Oops, that should have been southeast corner of the property. Rick finally got the big lawnmower going after I dragged it up to the house from the woodshed, now I just have to take the little mower to the shop because he never did put it back together. :x The garden is growing, the beets fina...

Re: Changes at Miracle Acre

Raining today and Rick is working for Jennifer. We did some work in the yard yesterday, Rick cut down some stinging nettles and we both pulled out a lot of cleavers that were climbing our favorite wild huckleberry bush. LOL there's a lot to do in the southwest corner of the property, if it's nicer w...

Re: Changes at Miracle Acre

WE HAVE HOT WATER!!!

The plumber showed up on Friday and put the tank in and the electrician showed up today and wired it up to my new fuse panel!

Now just to get the shower installed and we can give up sponge baths from a tin tub! :D

Re: Changes at Miracle Acre

Well the hot water tank is plumbed in--for free :D , because my plumber is also my friend and gave me a birthday present! :) Now to wait on the electrician, him I have to pay. :( Rufus, Anastar is no longer for sale :) , 2 trips out sailing convinced Roly he was making a mistake in selling her, so n...

Re: New Age Travellers documentary

I agree, in todays economy, living mobile is about the cheapest way to go. Being a homeowner I have ridiculous expenses every month and I'm trying to cut back on them. With what I've spent on this darn house in the last year I could have bought a small bus and converted it! Also, the area I live in ...

Re: Changes at Miracle Acre

Thanks Stealth,

The seeds we have are so old they are either falling apart or have turned an ugly color.

But anything that looks good I'll "proof" with damp paper towel and see if they'll grow.

Re: Pit Stop is coming home SOON!

Go to the scrap yard and ask for any little bits they have lying around and polish them up with salt & vinegar so they're bright, rinse with cold water and put around the plants--even plumbing pipe or copper propane line will work.

Cheers
