Re: Boat Sitting
Anastar has been home and dry for nearly 2 months and not a peep out of Roly. He changed his address, so he might not come back, plus he owes me money. Being on land has made the leak fighting easier because not so much blows in the hatch, and has enabled me to put a tiny low temp heater in her when...

Re: Boat Sitting
I am EXTREMELY happy with the current situation with Anastar and will be very glad to get her safely home. Then the work begins and if all goes well she should be back in the water in July, just in time for Mark and I to practice up for the regatta in August. Cross your fingers everyone, maybe a 30+...

Re: Boat Sitting
Well folks, if all goes well, the "cabin girl" will be the boss soon. I had a long talk with the guys at the marina and I've got money coming in to take over the whole boat, so around April 4th she should be high and dry in my yard. I brought home the dinghy "Astralet" yesterday ...

Re: Anybody thinking of their gardens yet?
Steve, Try Moneymaker tomatoes, they are a commercial greenhouse type that do great on trellises outdoors, they get VERY tall and bear a uniform shaped tomato that is good for canning or sandwiches, dehydrating or freezing. I've been growing them for about 10 years and they've never let me down. Whe...

Re: winter projects
My winter project is transportation--by horse. I haven't had a horse I could ride for 18 years, now I have a little Standardbred named Topanga. So my winter project is to oil my saddle, put it back together, and go riding :) . Luckily Topanga is small and it's not too far to the ground if I fall off...

Re: winter projects
Tent ripped in a non-critical area and they were able to cover it with a tarp and a PVC pipe frame.
I'm going to shift his landlord out of this town, never mind how, but I'll do it.
Take Care all, Merry Cristmas Steve.

Re: winter projects
Despite the snow there are roses out in this area, at the library in Mill Bay--that is about the mildest spot in the Cowichan Valley. It was sunny here but is overcast now and my barometer is sinking again. Rick and my neighbour got the tent back up, put a frame over it and covered the frame with a ...

Re: winter projects
Very, it's 6:35pm our time and Rick hasn't come in yet, so they must be working hard. This poor old guy has a zillion chemical sensitivities or I'd put him up in the camper tonight. It is freezing and the roads are getting slippery, I hope no one lands in my front garden, as it's down a steep bank. ...

Re: winter projects
Around here we've been lucky if the house is that warm in the morning, had a little money trouble this year and can't afford heating oil, so we're using the wood heater, and it's mighty cold in here when that goes out at night (Not air tight) Electric heaters help some but are murder on the electric...

Re: winter projects
knitting, crocheting, sewing and reading. No running out to the !#$%^&*()_+ :x boat in this WET weather. I am going to curl up with my knitting or some other project and a cup of cocoa. Sailing is over-rated and so is the jerk who owns the boat! Fleury just needs a leak or two fixed and then we ...

Re: Changes at Miracle Acre
Not much new going on here. It's been too wet to get out and clear the rest of the garden and mulch it for winter. I have managed some house cleaning and will be doing more as my nieces are coming up to see me over the holidays. The, "Hey I got NIECES!" still hasn't worn off, nor the fact ...

Re: Rudy Harley Update
Hi Rudy, I am glad to see you back and posting gorgeous pictures. If you look at my Project Fleury thread you will hear all about Rob and I finally renovating the interior of the motorhome and getting some mechanical, electrical, and plumbing bugs out of the system. Hope the dogs are well, I lost 2 ...
