Being electro magnetic, was first guess would have been some kind of pick up, until I saw the photo. My next guess, which is totally stab in the dark is that they might be the gizmo's used to create a violin effect.

Well I managed to create all of the PDF's really quick and easy and assembled them into a file to email, but my normal email client (Microsoft Entourage) requires me to install Aladdin Stuffit software, which comes at a price. My macbook makes PDF files easily from Sharkey's new print friendly version. I've just made a PDF of the first page of the Blue Bird story which came out at 20 print pages. I'll convert the rest to PDF then email them to you in a couple of hours.
