Re: Dusty's Bus
I think I would be investing in some sort of insulation that is designed for engine compartments. Otherwise long trips could see you melting your shoes.

Re: Another newbe
I like the way in which you hung your tanks. A friend of mine has a sticks and staples 5th wheel. He had to take it into the shop to get the waste tanks rehung. According to the tech at the RV repair shop, the tank hangers are not designed to hold the tanks up when they are fully loaded and sloshing...

With everything in such close quarters I am curious about residual heat, partlcularly with the exhaust so close to your feet.

Re: 1973 Blue Bird
I have been wondering how this whole project proceeded.
Seeing the finished project will be interesting.
I can hardly wait for the updates.

Re: Anyone Know of a Bus 13 Feet or More in Height ??
13' 6" is the highest legal height you can go. There are not supposed to be any low overheads lower than 13' 6" anywhere on the Interstate system. But that isn't to say there aren't any. I think you will find overheads less than 13'6" to be the norm rather than the exception once you ...

Re: Maybe a little help along the way, for some young honnie
Also realize that when you have a breakdown (notice I didn't say if you have breakdown) it will occur in the most disadvantagous location at the worst time of the day. Breakdowns most usually occur in the middle of a busy intersection during drive times or out in the middle of nowhere on a Saturday/...

Re: Maybe a little help along the way, for some young honnie
I am coming to the discussion a little late. First off, the bus in the pictures is a Thomas Saf-T-Liner RE. Most of the school buses of that vintage had Cat 3208 or Cat 3208T engines in them. Second, unless you know what you are doing you really don't want to mess with veggie or SVO, particularly on...

Re: Wisdom in motion?
Any particular reason you are wanting a C3 or a D3? Personally I prefer the D-series mostly because it has the better one radiator cooling system. The older style twin radiators coupled with a 2-cycle Detroit Diesel means you are going to overheat. Whichever you decide to purchase you need to spend ...

Re: Crown sighting in Greenport N.Y.
I would be interested in knowing how they installed a trailer hitch on a mid-engine Crown. The frame rails end just behind the rear suspension leaving the whole truck area just sheet metal hung on the back of the bus. It was built that way for a rear end crash crush zone that would not translate the...

Re: Another newbe
Any idea as to what color(s) you will be painting your bus?
Wouldn't it have been a good idea to have at least primed the new metal before you installed the new windows?

Re: Another newbe
Nice work. It isn't as noticeable how much more the roof is raised over the stock height until you see how far above the emergency door window the top rub rail is. Do you have much empty space forward of your luggage compartments? I have seen several BBAARE's that had three compartment doors on each...

Re: Another newbe
You took the rub rail off that is just below the windows.
Are you going to put it back on?
I would think that rub rail would give some structural stiffness at that level of the body.
