Re: Im not sure where this goes but
Hey Dennis, I've been rolling around under all sorts of trailers and 5ers looking at their slide outs and without a doubt there is 3X as much steel in your frame as in any of the production trailers I've seen. I think you got a killer deal on yours. I can't see the complete tongue in the pics but it...

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus
Hello All. Funny how it goes, I've been stewing for weeks about how to attach the fenders to my tilt mechanism and yet when it came right down to it, it seemed simple. I added a couple of rungs to the jungle jim and hacked away at the original fender brace and made a second brace, tac welded the thi...

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus
Hey Tango. You're right about the tilt being in the way. Now I will have to pull the bus out of the garage with all that entails before I can open the hood. I don't think I'd get away with a hole in the garage wall as wiffy has VERY sharp eyes. I'd run out of 3/32 screws to use to temporarly hold th...

Re: A Story of Two Road Trips
Stuart and Dick. I admire the talent both of you share--it makes photography an art. Like both of you, I have been to each of those places at one time or another during my life. Stuart, I viewed each of your pictures over and over and will go to sleep recollecting them and my visits. Fun. Oh, and ho...

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus
Hello All. I completed the hood hinge mechanism today and welded it up. It moves easily on its 16 roller bearings and exhibits almost no unwanted lateral movement. I clamped the stir stick mock up on the completed hinge and it still works like the model. I knew that some point I was going to need to...

Wow, that is what is so cool about this site--lots of stuff you just won't see anywhere else. I look foreward to your reports and wish I could come along. Jack

That is a project I could get into. What are your ideas for a floor plan? Jack

Re: somewhereinUSA out and about
Hey Dick, thanks for the newsy update. Like you I'm no engineer but that doesn't keep me from learning their secrets (I can't spell either--hence 'Ol Trunt). It is particularly fun to see their faces when they see that we lowly ones actually can do everything they can. On the other hand, I've befrie...

Re: somewhereinUSA out and about
Hey Dick. Looks like fun and I can hardly wait to do the same. Now a bunch of questions-- how far did you travel? What was the fuel consumption? How did the bus drive etc? Jack

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus
Hello All. I had lots of interuptions over the last couple of weeks so not much to share. I did get the two pairs of hinge arms built. I planed on using a single bearing on each arm where it articulates with the frame but the ball bearings allowed too much lateral movent for that. I used a shaft wel...

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus
Hello All. Tamangel spotted my Morris Minor Toad for the bus on another post and asked if I had a build thread on it. I don't but I do have a few pics to offer. I chose the 1959 MM woodie wagon as my Toad because I think its lines look a lot like the lines of my bus. Both are round and have tear dro...

Re: Curtis Aerocar..
Hey Mike, I wasn't able to make the site work on this one--probably due to my old Comador 64 computer  . On Somewhere"s post you mentioned that you would like to see more pics of the Morris. I didn't do a build thread but since I specifically built it as a Toad for my '35 bus I should be a...

Re: Another newbe
Hey Somewhere--great score! Your base plate looks plenty stout to do the job. It looks like you have allready made provision for the outrageous lateral forces these things generate trying to get the front wheels to turn side to side. I can't quite make out what brand your bar is but it looks almost ...
