I googled red diamond ihc engine and this is most likely a 401 ci engine . i drove an early 70s single axle tractor that had the 450 ci in it. tons of torque slow on the get go but would pull like the devil.

The Red Diamond name applied to all of the IHC big inline 6 gas engines. It included the 450 and the 501. There was a smaller one but I don't think it was 401.
The RD 450 and RD501 engines were put into a lot of rear engine Gillig and Pacific buses.
Quite a few of the RD450's were installed pancake style in Crowns instead of the Hall Scott gas engine.
Many of the Red Diamond equipped buses were repowered to Cummins diesel engines because the diesel engines used quite a bit less fuel and had more power for climbing hills. The Cummins also used the same motor mounts and bell housings so a lot of other stuff didn't have to be swapped around as well.

did anyone catch what the bus went for, would have taken alot of work, but could you imagine showing up at a prevost rally in that bus decked out and restored professionally. they would be sitting in thier 1/2 million dollar coaches that all are pretty much the same sipping martinies, you would be the talk of the rally, especially if the bud wasn't comsumed yet, and rehung in the same place

That is how high the bidding went, but the reserve was never met.

No biggie Griff.
The point that I was trying to make was, that the seller might still have it and be willing to sell it for that price now.
If anyone was interested, they could still contact him through Ebay.

If I had a extra $4500 laying around I still don't believe I would by a bus located in Canada, can you imagine the hassles getting it into the US rebuilding everything and especially the hassles getting it legal here. I am sure the person that bought it has a deeper pocket than I do'
