Yeah. Good thing.
Those guys are pretty funny in person. I was at a conference where they did a presentation. Talked about past Myth Busters stuff, with some blooper flicks. Kind of neat. Then they had to take their pictures with everyone. I'm sure that got REAL old fast for them. I just got on the bus and got one too.

The picture of me with my '65 Travelall was taken at the top of Santiam Pass on the way home from picking up my new-to-me 1978 Avion.

Of course I had to wait until the first weekend of November and the first weekend there was snow in the mountains to do it.

I chose to go with the Avion rather than converting my 1978 Crown A-426-11. I figured we would be able to use the Avion right now and my 2-year old daughter would most likely be graduating from college before I ever got the Crown converted to the point my wife would want to go anywhere in it.

What I paid for the Travelall and the Avion was less than what I got for selling the Crown. Which was quite a bit more than what I paid for it.

Sometimes you really can come out ahead wheeling and dealing.

I like the Travelall. Mebbe it's 'cause IH's were some of my first teachers, vehicle-wise. After I got the Metro, I started digging back in my fuzzy memory, and pretty much nailed down my first pickup-truck driving experience, which doesn't really qualify as driving. It was in an IH, about 1962 or so model, in a cotton-field. A bit later, after the pickup and me learned to cooperate a bit better, I got to teach a Loadstar how to survive my shit.
Sorry if this doesn't really fit well here, but that Turkey 101 has been enjoying my company again. Dammit, I gotta hush.

High school friend had a mid 60s Travelall for a while in early 70s and became a welder after graduation. He first had a 61 Ford Galaxie convertible. Robins egg blue with white leather interior. Beautiful.

Got the Travelall for his growing family. Never quite got over the fact he no longer had a convertible, so one day we took his cutting torch to the top. Left the windshield frame, but cut off the rest of the top all the way back, down to the window sill at top of door.

Plan was to weld/bolt/fabricate a convertible mechanism. Well, you can imagine that never happened. Drove it around for 6 or 7 years like that. Wet when it rained. Cold when it snowed. Hot in summer. Very cool truck when you are 22.

Thats going back a few years now. It was taken at a metal gig, where the bar literally sold out of alcohol. Is that a good thing?
