But where's the cut away D-40 you painted blue in 1980? That's a squeeze box these folks haven't seen huh?

I have been answering a lot of questions by email to many friends, some of who you know from the forums. GoodClue (Doug) and I thought we should share information with everyone. This may become as popular as The Ghetto Pot Roast thread. First up is a discussion of accordions.

This is one of my "keepers". I have had close to 20 accordions in the past five years. I have taken every one of them apart. Most because they needed repair, and some just out of curiosity.

Howard, It's nice to see you writing in to the thread. The D40 cutaway is in my instrument closet. That closet can be seen on the 1973 Blue Bird thread. I still have it. I had the braces shaved by George Hedges who owns Shiloh Music in Mt. Juliet. The guitar became much deeper. It really did not boost the high end though. If you remember correctly, I had painted it purple and yellow in one inch diagonal stripes. Many years later, I painted it black with a red border. I once sold it to Dottie's son. He added some silver streaks to the black. I bought it back from him when he needed some money. The last time I used that guitar was over six years ago when I was recording a few different albums. You may have some of those recordings. One, in particular, is Leapfrog, where I played the slide parts. Gee!, I didn't know that I have had that guitar for so long. I must be getting old. It still has the Bill Lawrence pickup in the soundhole. Well, I just took some pictures for you. I haven't opened that case in many years. I took the guitar out and it was still in tune (dropped D). So I played a couple refrains of Windy And Warm. I've got to tighten the truss rod, but all in all, it is in good shape. Here are a few pics.

Before the breathin' air is gone,
Before the sun becomes a bright spot in the nighttime.
Out where the rivers like to roam,
I stand alone, and take back something worth remembering.

Any guesses who did this song?

That just happens to be one of my most favoritest songs ever. I didn't have to Google it.

I tend to think that Jimmy Webb left the cake out in the rain, but TMAX is correct. I watched an interview with Jimmy Webb and he got so disgusted with Richard Harris 'cause he kept singing McCarther's Park, when the lyrics actually were McCarther Park. Webb finally just gave up & let Harris sing it wrong so they could get finished with the session.

I've got a question about MacArthur Park. How many hits of acid was Jimmy Webb on when he wrote it???? Wow.

Speaking of psychedelics....what is your list of the best psychedelic rock songs? Here's mine:
  • 1) Purple Haze/Jimi Hendrix (duh...it's about purple haze acid!)
    2) Too Much To Dream / Electric Prunes
    3) Psychotic Reaction / Count V
    4) Just Dropped In (to see what condition my condition was in) / 1st Edition
