ezrablue go back and watch the video on I am your captain and on the counter at 4 min 15 sec and the camera pans into the audience and you will see what I was talking about

All along the watchtower was fantastic!!! always loved the jam but the video I don't know where it was shot at but it reminded me of some castle ruins in Turkey went on some castle tours that were fantastic and the walkways were pretty much that bad in places, didn't bother me then I built antenna towers, now no way would I do it or could do it, Not sure if I got smarter as I aged or aged as I got smarter

Ezra,
I remember all those! You sure know how to make a guy feel OLD!!

I had a 1961 Volkswagen as a child (1968). Paid $50. Didn't know squat about working on cars, so drove it for about 1,000 miles with 2 spark plug wires reversed. Was always a little disappointed by the lack of performance, but just didn't understand.

Well, just about 3 seconds after the engine swallowed a valve, enlightenment ensued. Crossed wires are not a good thing.

Spent $400 to rebuild the engine. Got it running pretty good - very nice. Couple months later, ran into the back end of a new 1968 Firebird. Didn't scratch the Bird, but caved in the hood of the bug. Removed it. Then had another seat for transporting people!!

Got 6 or 7 inside, then one on the front. Good times!

Also had all the daisies on the windows and around the car. Homemade wooden bumpers front and back. Curtain hanging between the front and back seats. And all the back windows.

There are vinyl loops inside the door jam on each side of the car. Most people thought they were handholds to help get in and out of the car. Not so - they are stirrups.

Remember this??
And no, 'brothers and sisters' is not the original, correct lyrics.

Wow! Still looking at the videos. Grass Roots is a 'volkswagen' song. When I hear it, it triggers a kind of Pavlovian response - or flashback - such that I find myself sitting in the Bug, driving along, listening to the radio! Literally seems to put me there.

Thanks for the posting!

Used to love to watch Jimmy Durante show, as well as Groucho's show.

Got to see Hendrix live. As well as Led Zeppelin and Jefferson Airplane - pre Starship. Uriah Heep. Fleetwood Mack. Bunch of good bands.

Ok, enough jabbering. Later.

We all sure have good taste in music, huh? If we ever have a Sharkey reunion sometime, park our buses in a big circle around and build a huge bonfire in the center...I can hear the music already!
