It seems I am always mobile! Getting ready for a "rest stop" for about 5 months in South Tahoe. We will be working at Fallen Leaf Lake Campground...free rent and hook ups along with full time pay for both Rachelle and myself. Not to mention great fishing and an awesome parking spot to finish up some projects on the coach.
The last few months have been a lot of driving around...as far south east as Rockport Texas until the weather started turning hot.
Right now we are in Bishop Ca...the weather is PERFECT! Parked in an rv area of a casino here ($5 a night) with a spectacular veiw of the snow covered mountains! I will take and post a picture later today. Yesterday for Easter we took the jeep and found some natural hot springs to soak in. The camera batteries were dead so to get some pictures we will have to go back today or tomorrow...I guess I can handle it though. :D
Sometime later this week we will make the short drive up to the Tahoe area.
Wherever I am...I am home.

Some good news is that it is only a little more than 400 miles from here to Springfield Missouri.

I had thought it was 600 miles.

It ends up being 600 miles after pit stops, side trips and other unplanned excursions!

In my youth, I had driven 22 hours straight.

In my elderliness, I am happy only making 6 hours a day.

Rudy, you're going to be so pumped on bus driving after your trip is over that you will probably go and apply at Greyhound for a job! The feeling of power that comes from being in command of such a large portion of the road is really intoxicating- you feel like the 'King of the Road'!

The next two days are going to be sunny here.

Today I got a brush on a long handle and a gallon of Simple Green cleaner (good stuff).

Tomorrow, I will actually move the bus down the driveway to wash the exterior. I also should be able to get the front tires mounted.

Today I got rid of all the one gallon water jugs that were under the bus. I took them to the recycle bin.

Today I will finalize getting in to "drive mode". That means securing everything so it does not go flying around while driving.

I will dump my holding tank this week, then I will store my porta-tote in one of my storage bays.

After I move the bus, I will park it in the driveway here.

I am so close to leaving. The sunshine here today and for the next two days gives me hope.

I AM nervous, but I am also very excited about making this move. I was scheduled to leave this week. It will be next week instead.

Adios los good ole boys.

Gonna get paid to play music on stage. Imagine that!

Rudy...I found myself smiling at your post....I'm so excited for you! We are both doing similar things; downsizing, cleaning, preparing, repairing...getting our lives in order...making a big change.

I hope to be one the people paying to see you very soon 8)

Today I sold my poor little Ford Ranger. I didn't really want to but I think it's best because I can't fix it and it's not good for it to just sit for who knows how long. I've also made a big dent in selling many of my other things. I just keep listing it on craigslist and so far, so good. Next week I'll have a garage sale. Maybe :D

I tried to move my bus but "sort of" got it a "little" stuck on my land. I moved it ahead about 8 feet and then it started to spin in the back so I stopped so it wouldn't sink deeper. And now it's been raining for 3 days so it's even soggy-er out there. I need sunshine or below zero temperatures....or my friend to drag it out with his tractor  next week because I've sold enough stuff to build a steel building (pole barn) and my bus is in the way for the guy to come out and dig the holes for the posts.

Hi splummer,

The rhubarb is growing and my horse is keeping your parking spot mowed.

So you can head up here any old time you want, but I'd say give the rhubarb two more weeks before you head this way if you're up to it.

Hope all is well with you.

A Report:

I have been paying attention to the breaching of the levees to protect Cairo, Illinois.

Having traveled through Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania the day after a major flood in 1972, I realized that I do not want to travel in the days of flooding in Missouri.

My destination route places me VERY close to Cairo.

Last night I pondered my predicament.

I thought I would brave the drive, but was duly concerned about how wise of a move that would be, under the present circumstances.

Today I received a call from a friend that desperately needs my help on a window project next week.

I told him that I would stay an extra week to help him.

Two important factors come into play here. One is that I am able to procure more food and water during that time. The other is that there will be another week for the flood waters to subside where I am to travel through.

So my question of whether I should leave this coming weekend has been eloquently answered.
