Hmm, after seeing that Lister I wonder if theres a way to make something similar our of a small 4 cylinder engine or something to that effect. Something I can cram under the bus as well.

Has anyone done that before?

Headache,
If you find a diesel engine to start with you can convert it to vegtable oil. Or...what I have done, is simply run the generator on the truck (or in your case, bus) engine, and convert that to vegtable oil.

My Kubota 6KW genset cost $8000, but has over 10000 hours on it already and still runs like new, so perhaps a high price initially is worth the hassle.
Word went around the Woodgas list for awhile about the Indian Lister Clones being outlawed in the US by the EPA. Dunno for sure as I never tried to buy one. I blew those engines up continually in Iraq, but never had a lick of trouble with the Kubotas or Mitsubishis... they sure sound good though.

Duelfuel...yes, from what I've read those Lister clones from India were outlawed...well, I think ALL of the Lister type engines have been but I've read there are still ways. I don't know enough about it to do me much good yet, but know enough to make me want to learn much more. I've read some of these engines have run for over 20 years without ever being shut down.

That's what might happen Dual. I'm keeping back up ideas in mind in case I can't find parking near power for the conversion.

interesting info, my question is how do you clean waste motor oil so thats its safe to use, i have heard differnt ways but still wouldnt use it, i have a multi in my duece, ,all it will take is a little metal from the used oil to raise hell with the i p ,i hae replace a inj. pump in the past and they are ery costley., any ideas of cleaning waste oil. steve

I had a multi-fuel engine in my deuce, and was thinking of making some 50/50 fuel for it, mixing diesel and waste motor oil. I think you could filter it thru a series of filters using simple gravity to let it run thru two or three filters. Make a tank up higher, then put your filters (could be just regular oil filters in line, not sure of the micron ratings) in series and let it run thru into a tank at the bottom you could draw from.

If you use a very fine filter with extreme micron filtering at the tail end, I am sure you would not have any problems. I know old log truck drivers who used to take thier engine oil after changing it, and just dump it back into thier fuel tank without any filtering at all. They just figured the fuel filters would filter out any dirt or filings. And it appeared to work, they would run those old engines 500,000 to 1,000,000 miles between overhauls.

Stick a strong magnet on the bottom of the filter(s), should take care or that lone filing...
