Yangtze 18

A lot of years ago, I discovered this 18 foot design, and it appealed to me immensely.
I even bought the plans. Unfortunately the design was never actually completed and there are still some things that need tidying up to make it a functional design. It is based on the 18 foot Super Pelican, which is based on the 16 foot Great Pelican, which is based on the 12 foot San Francisco Pelican; all designed by the late Bill Short.
Someone has built a model with there own modifications.
And it looks like they have embarked on building a full size version.
I still dream about building one of these, one day, and have put a lot of thought on how I would finish the design. One thing I would definitely do different is the rig. I would use a cambered Hasler/McLeod junkrig, based on Arne Kverneland's modifications. I would also, more than likely go with leeboards, using some of Phil Bolgers methods of mounting them, rather than the centreboard, as designed.
Will I ever get around to doing it? who knows! but at the very least I would like to build a functioning scale model, and in the mean time just dreaming about it works pretty well too.
