About the time that I began working with Biodiesel, there was a local group called the "Hydrogen Alliance", who had big plans to promote home hydrogen production. We used to run into them at events, earth day observances, energy fairs, etc. About the same time, a local automatic transmission specialist was building a fuel-as-you-drive hydrogen pickup truck, he did the service on the AT in my pusher.

I haven't heard anything about either of those H advocates for about four years now, but our Biodiesel plant is pumping out 1,000,000 gallons of clean, domestically-produced fuel from used vegetable oil each year.

Is Hydrogen the fuel of the future? Probably. The distant future.
