House With a Moat

When you own that piece of land that you return to occasionally. You may wish to construct an off grid dwelling. This is the place to discuss different construction methods, materials, and types. Think straw bale, earth ship, yurt, etc..

House With a Moat

Post by stuartcnz »

I used to pass this light house in the Waitamata harbour when I was a kid, both on boats that I lived on and on ferries too. I always imagined what an awesome place it must have been to live in, for the light house keeper.

The light house keepers used to get to and from the light house by row boat.

Another light house, of the same design, from elsewhere on the harbour. It was removed before my time.

I want a moat! Could probably live with a little bit smaller one, but that would be ok, too.
