SWAMP COOLERS

Post by HOGCAT »

Heres a few pics of the cooling system I use on my bus. I tried several brands over the years. This system seems to work the best. Its sold by www.backwoodssolar.com. They are pricy, but worth the bucks. I have used it for 7 years nnow, and the only thing that has gone bad were the "12 volt bilge pump" which are cheap. The bilge pump is used for pumping the water to the pad from the bottom. The small 12 volt motor that runs the fan is small, but puts out big power for its size!!!!!

Swamp coolers

Post by Phil Feinstein »

For areas with low humidity during the summer, this is THE technology! Living in Colorado, I can tell you that this works great.

I'm tinkering with the idea of a home-built swamp cooler, since I can go down to Lowes and get everything fairly cheaply. In principle, all you need is a method to irrigate the pads, a catch basin beneath to recirculate and a fan.

Good stuff, Hogcat!
