I know some of you readers are into music.
As a teenager I attended one of the first significant music festivals here , at Ngaruwahia, about 1973.
15000 people were there, Black Sabbath played , you could hear them clearly 3km away in the village.

I was with a friend , in a borrowed car , and had arranged to meet another friend at the venue.
Well ......... how do you find one person in all that lot ,, especially when there were so many other things to look at .. LOL ..
After 3 days without food (the 3rd friend had the money) ,, we drove into Hamilton and slept in the car by the lake , in the morning, we were woken by 'quack quack'..... bloody hell.. wheres the silencer .... shaking hands .... phut! .. quick ,, into the boot ,, back to the festival ,, plucked the carcase down by the river .. rapid construction of fire and spit , ............ darn , it was SO hard waiting for the duck to cook . NOTHING has ever tasted so good

Eventually found the friend with the money
Later in 1979 another venue , Nambassa festivals were very successful with vast (for NZ) crowds of 65000. Remember we only had a population of 3million at that time.
So I was cruising Utube the other day and discovered some cool NZ history.
