"If Carlsberg made camper vans they would make them like this!!!!!!!!
Here we have my 1974 Citroen HW Camper Van. Originally built by Heuliez as a horse transporter. She is currently mot'd until 27th October 2010 but I am willing to put a full years test on her, such is my confidence in this beautiful creation.
There is a fantastic history behind my HW......
The previous owner David bought this fantastic van from a man called Christophe Jouannet who lived at Veigne near Tours in France. It was used for transporting his show jumping horses. David was working on an old house in Paris called the Moulin de la Tuillerie, a former residence of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. This was where the interior of the old horsebox was completely stripped out and old oak flooring was fitted to the floor, the ramp was replaced with 2 oak doors sourced from an old porch removed from the Dukes house. This was driven back to England in 2005 and the interior was then fitted out.
The living area has a unit that runs along one side with a sink and a hob (original 1950s French enamel) which runs on camping gas. This unit also houses some drawers for cutlery and pots and pans, and a cupboard. Along the other side is a bench seat which then folds out to become a double bed .
My van is equipped with 12V and 240V (through a convertor) and has dual batteries so that one is always charging when the van is being driven. It has sockets and electric lighting and overhead storage racks. It is panelled throughout with tongue and groove and has insulation between the panelling.
The engine is a 1992 Sherpa 2500 diesel which powers the van along happily at 50/55mph through its 3 speed gearbox. Brakes are very good. It is a fun drive. New seats have recently been fitted.
Full service file and old mot's including all the French paperwork..."
