Got an email from Antoine alerting me to a series of pages depicting the raising of the roof on the bus that she and Larry live and travel in. I thought folks here might be interested in seeing how it was done in this case.

WOW! I just checked out the roof raise. I really like the back loft. It would be cool if we could see the pictures on the forum.

I like the rear loft- overall, the bus has a vast feeling of lots of space! I wonder how long ago the bus was constructed?

That's really good Sharkey, I think its great to see how others do this sort of work.
It never would have entered my head to construct the walls of wood , like a house construction.
The work I did on the Flxible Clipper roof raise , I used steel , welded to steel. I wish I had pics of it.

That is certainly an interesting way to do a raise and I never would have thought of it.
I came across this album yesterday at skoolie.net and it demonstrates the more "accepted" way to do the raise.

I think the wood walls have a lot of merit, though.

Mark,
I followed that thread during the build, what was most amazing to me was the amount of time they spent building it. Good link, thanks.

I liked the way they did the roof raise and some of the other stuff. It was cool the way they re-used the metal from the interior ceiling as exterior skin. I could live without the popout and they went a little over the top with the artsy fartsy stuff, too, IMHO.
Makes me think you could do somthing of a hybrid roof raise, a cross between the two. I liked the dual lofts and you could sure frame that up in sqare tubing just as easily as you could with wood. If you don't weld, then the wood makes more sense.
