Here is Steve's Cadillac hearse, (1971 I think), his bus, and the background, a parts 52 GMC xm211

Not really a bus, but it is a camper on a Cadillac hearse body. I guess you could call it The Caddyshack!

The Caddy hearse eminds me of the wealthy dude who wanted to be buried in his Caddy Limo when he died. He finally passed on the the great hereafter, and true to his wishes, at his graveside service they dug a very big hole and rolled him in his Caddy limo into the grave. Two of his poor buddies watched this display of wanton, wastefull wealth and one turned to the other and said, "man, that is what I call really living it up!"

After high school I worked for a while as an apprentice mortician, I had thought I wanted to work in the funeral business. We seemed to develop a strange sense of humor around the place:
Folks seemed to really like our place, they were dying to get in there!
I seemed to be everyone's best friend, because I was the last person that would ever let them down!
Some days I got really bored, because it was so dead around the place!

Perhaps the strange sense of off-beat humor was a coping mechanism to handle being around death all the time? I lasted 4 months full time at the job, and then another 8 months part time. You had no social life, you were almost married to the job, it was not my idea of how I wanted to live my life, so I left to do other things to pay the bills.

Good thing you moved on from that line of work. I hear it's a dead-end job.
