That is sweet- but a bear to transport if they are too far away to tow home behind your pickup! It must have been converted to a Cummins at some time in the past. But that is good!

Repowering one of these old beasts is not a trivial task. The rear axle must also be replaced because the original engine ran counter-clockwise.

Or, you drive it backwards?

Old time sprint race car drivers used to take the GMC-made 270 CID inline 6-cylinder engines and make them run backwards to the normal rotation so that they would torque the car into the left turns instead of out of the turns and do it at 6,000 RPM! That was really screamin' in those days, I had a friend who raced in the vintage sprint car circuit and had one of those race prepped 270 Jimmy engines in his car. I never asked him tho if he had to turn his rear axle upside down to make it run in the correct direction.
