Hi all,

I've been on and off here as a lurker for a few years. I bought two schoolbusses a few years ago to move my shop and family from So Cal to north central Montana. My brother was the one that gave me that idea (a U-Haul was 6k one way at the time!) and also told me about this site (and the other one  ) for info.

I traded one bus away for help I recieved during the move and kept one that I named "the Metal Tent" (1987 27 ft long wayne with a dt466, 5 speed with a two speed rear-end with a custom hitch welded in for towing)

I put a shower in and kitchen and bunk beds and a Futon. Painted it white and green and have a great time camping in it...(except the time the thunderstorm hit at exactly the same time one of the boys caught the stomach flu....that was not such a great time.)

Just wanted to say hi and tell you a bit about myself.

Welcome Bill,
Your brother must be a little smarter then he acts most of the time.
Post some pics of "The Metal Tent" when you get a chance.

We have a member here (splummer) He really liked the name of your bus.
We were chatting on SharkChat the other other day, and discovered that his bus and your bus are exactly the same kind. Steve (splummer) has worked in mental health care for many, many years. I suggest that Steve names his bus "The MENTAL Tent"....Just a suggestion.

Anyway, thanks for joining. Tell the family I said hi.

Your Bro, Chuck

Hey Chuck,

That would be a pretty good name....probably keep the lookie-loos at a safe distance....or else knockin' on the door for therapy...

I haven't been in the tent for a couple months....the snow drift was too big. I did get the water jugs out before they thawed though.

Good to have another person on board Ted! (or is it William?) Anyway, we will look forward to your pics and stories as they come along.

I have relatives that own land about 2 hours out of Missoula in the mountains near the little town of Lincoln on highway 200. They want us to buy some adjacent land to them, so we all will have a place to go when the Big One hits, or the Big Crash comes and we have to bail out of the more populated areas.

Hi Dburt,

It's Ted.....My brother suggested my username...seemed to think Rudy would get a kick out of it....

Hey....your folks think a lot like many of us. If you can "lower" your standard of living there are a lot of wonderful places to live!

Ted, I thought about a user name like "Henry Fogbottom" or "The Acme chicken feed and Amalgamated Rail Road Company" but then perhaps folks would think I had escaped from a Looney Tune cartoon. 8)

(Who knows, maby I just did?) Anyway...........

So- I just use my first name initial and last name as in: Dennis Burt or dburt, or as lots of folks call me- DB.

"I don't care what you call me, just don't call me late to supper!"

I could live in Montana, at least the parts where there are mountains, lakes and lots of trees of the conifer type. Problem is, the economy in SW Idaho, where we have a place we would like to sell, is in the pits, and we seem stuck with it for a while. So it makes it hard to bail out of Oregon and Idaho and go somewhere new.

Dennis,

You are a natural to live in Montana, they call dinner "supper" in Montana also.

Thanks guys....

DBurt..I understand not making a foolish jump.my Montana move was quite an experience.....glad I did it....don't know if I would have done it if I knew all that was involved. Sometimes a nice blend of ignorance and optimism gets you in deep enough, quick enough, that you just have to keep swimming to the other side...

Maybe some of us start our bus projects the same way? :)

Charles, my dear man, to clarify a bit.... they call lunch "dinner" and dinner "supper" so if you get invited to dinner better get there at noon.....

There SHOULD be two f's in Bifwinkle but I blew it. I had some t-shirts made up with a drawning of Bill performing with a caption that reads ~
Bill Bifwinkle ~ The Worlds Best 2-Headed Guitar Player
Great shirts but on the order I missed one of the f's so we had to change the spelling.
I got a good chuckle out of seeing Bill in here too! Welcome!
