That blue one looks like they put the driver at the wrong end...

How did the smoke stacks change sides on the last two pictures. One looks like it is on driver side, last one looks like on passenger side. Originally I thought the image had been reversed, but the front tag isn't reversed on one of them.

What kind of magic is this??

Maybe in the middle??

I think you are right. I'm just about cross-eyed here tonight. Has been a long day.

You're not cross-eyed, the three piece windshield and curve of the roof make the optical illusion from those angles. From those particular angles, the frame between the center windshield and the outer ones make it look like a two piece windshield with the frame appearing centered on the curved roof with the stacks to the side of center. (Both ways, heh!)

ilike the one with the duallys on the front, up here the steamers come out once a year , its common to see them on the road the stanley steamer came from kingfeild me.

What do you suppose they use for fuel to get the steam up ???

My guess is that they use coal to fire the boiler. Coal is small, lightweight, and burns hot.

HMmm that would make it a two man operation..and a coal tender ...
I just wondering if it would be possible for a fuel oil operation ...kinda like a house boiler ,but instead of steam heat ,the steam would drive the wet pistons ...I dunno just a thought ...interesting in any event .

My understanding is that steam cars used oil for fuel and steam trains that used oil were certainly built and used, as were steam turbine ships. So it is quite likely that the buses also ran on oil.

I like the "Old Glory" bus, just imagine if that were coal fired, or even wood fired! Talk about eco-friendly and cheap to operate. Make a nice motorhome in the coach section, and you are set to go!

Walt Disney made a movie called One of Our Dinosaurs is Missing which featured a chase scene with a steam powered bus. I remember seeing one of the characters driving and one stoking.
