It isn't as noticeable how much more the roof is raised over the stock height until you see how far above the emergency door window the top rub rail is.

Do you have much empty space forward of your luggage compartments?

I have seen several BBAARE's that had three compartment doors on each side. On those buses the fuel tanks were tucked up between the frame rails and didn't hang down at all.

I didn't raise the roof at all, although it is a high roof model. I just cut off the original roof to the bottom of the Bluebird stripe, which also got rid of the eyebrows.Inside is 76.5", but I'm only 68 and mumsywumsy is shorter then me.

I don't have any room infront of the compartment doors, there is a 50 gallon fuel tank on each side that pretty much fills the space outside of the frame.
Waste water tanks take up almost all of the compartments, the fresh water tanks will be tucked up between the frame between the fuel tanks.

Where are you going to put your propane tanks?

Any idea as to what color(s) you will be painting your bus?

Wouldn't it have been a good idea to have at least primed the new metal before you installed the new windows?

Probably something like this, with the white being Bus coat roof coating, I know it has some texture, but I think the reflective value will be worth the trade off.
This is a really rough sketch, but you get the general idea. I haven't quite figured out how I'm going to paint the stripes yet, I'm not much of an artist. The first push is to get the color changed.
Indiana requires a color change before issuing a title, I can change to a RV title at the same time.
Windows are only in temporarily, I'll take them out when I paint.

White part done, two coats of Buskote plus clear. Windows installed and Indiana RV title on it's way.


The blue needs some touchup where I messed up. amd I still have some lights to install, and the new heated
mirrors, but now I can get on with the inside.

I didn't like the way the front access doors latched, I couldn't get them adjusted so they would close tightly
I found these latches at an RV surplus place. The key isn't really a key, just a removable handle. After the turn,
a quarter turn more pulls the latch in about 1/4 inch, closes the door tightly against seal.


The Buskote really seems to work. Outside temp, sitting in full sun was 94, window holes still covered with plastic,
(no ventilation) inside temp 94. After installing the windows and opening them inside temp dropped 2 degrees.
Ceiling was only warm to the touch. Working on the outside you can lean your forearms, on the white part and not be
at all uncomfortable. while I was painting I couldn't stand to stand on the yellow with just my socks on.

What's the buscote ? is that heat insulating paint ? keen to learn more.

We've been using Bus-Kote for about 10 years. We have 5 coats on the roof and 2 coats on the ceiling.

Yep, sold the Volvo last fall, don't miss it, don't think about it much.

I do miss traveling, but that will come soon. The official "RV" title came yesterday. Plans are to do some "metal tent camping" before it's finished. I'm not
looking at that to happen until spring though.
