Crown water pump

Post by HOGCAT »

Howdy folks. Started my Crown this morning and the water pump is leaking!!! It is a 1968 model with the Cummins 220 engine in it. The belt that drives the cooling fan has been hitting the nose cone of the water pump just behind the pulley and has wore a hole in it. I think it is the Cummins 743 NHH engine.

So my question is has anyone here ever bought a new water pump before? And if so do you remember where you got it and the part number? And most important of all how much are they? Rebuilt or new would work for me. Thanks a bunch for any help. It is dark now, but tomorrow I will post some pics and show ya all what it looks like.

Have not had much time to work on it. Drained the coolant and took off the two small hoses that hook onto the lower big radiator hose to drain the system. The short rubber connector that hooks the pump and the pipe that goes to the radiator is sure stiff in this cold weather we have been having here in San Diego. Could not get the short hose to slip off. So in the morning I am getting out the heat gun and warm it up till it comes loose. Here is a short video to show the problem I am having. Enjoy, and don't laugh too hard at my video skills!!!
