Looks like a possible housetruck platform. However is it a front engine rig?

strange crown, possible housetruck platform

I can tell you more about that engine than the owner probably knows.
It's serial # is F1376, and Crown factory build #9056.
It was first sold to Carmichael, CA and went into service as Engine #9.
In August 1983, it was transfered to American River, CA, where it served at Station 109.
It did a stint at "Desi's Fire Equipment" in Lincoln, CA before becoming Northside Truck 72 in Cool, CA.
It was then sold to the ASIC Fire District 7 in Notheast Kansas in March of 1997, where it's apparently been ever since.
It originally had a 1,091 cubic inch Hall-Scott gasoline engine putting out a rated 332 brake horsepower. It's mounted vertically above the front axle, farther forward than the pumper trucks, to make room for the large tank in back. Those Hall-Scott engines have no -zero- parts availability and they get about 2 miles per gallon. Apparently, it was repowered with a Cummins after it was sent to Kansas.
It would be an interesting project to convert to a housetruck. Thanks for posting the listing, it will be interesting to see if it sells.
