DB, you beat me to confirming that the red truck was indeed an IH.

Rudy, these Volvo trucks belong in Rob Gray's "Other WORT's" section of the Wothahellisat site, especially Phil's tan camper.

Here's a YouTube video of Phil's red machine going through the Hollister mud pit. It took all the next morning to clean the mud from the inside and the outside.

Some info that my brother emailed me.

As you personally can attest to, it's always exciting driving or being a passenger in the Volvo, and yes it is truly amazing how capable they are and I still don't push the limit with them. There were only two trucks that made it through the mud pit at Hollister that day, mine with 90 hp. and this supercharged Ford 400 hp. long bed that muscled it's way through. However mine was the only one to get through and drive home - on the way out the Ford was broken down at the gate having crushed his center carrier drive shaft bearing coming out of the mud pit. All other trucks and jeeps that tried that day got thoroughly stuck and wet and each needed to be winched out. It is amazing to think that this is an RV and that I consistently drive my living room, kitchen and bedroom through these challenges and beyond, lending a level of comfort, security and time to some challenging adventures.

I have watched the mud pit video 30 times now and still get a thrill from it. And, yes, I have had the opportunity to do some gnarly driving with the Volvos.

I discovered some more photos of my brother Phil's machines.

First is one of Phil catching some rays atop the red machine.

Even a monster 4-wheeler like the Volvo can find itself in a precarious position.
