Turkey
I bought a turkey for Easter and forgot to cook it until yesterday
I left it in the oven on the lowest setting for hours as it was still partly frozen.
Well it came out of the oven so perfectly done that it was falling apart but still moist.
I didn't take any pictures, but Rick & I will be eating turkey everything in the next few weeks, there's 2 of us and a 13lb bird was the smallest he could find.
@ Rudy & Dennis--Got a good recipe for turkey soup? I'm tired of mine.
@ James--please check your email
@ splummer--too bad you're so far away-the rhubarb is almost ready

Re: Turkey
Let's try again gang.
Last report I made on this thread was that I'd been gifted with a 15 pound turkey and I was asking for recipes and comtemplating smoking the darn bird.
Well I don't want to be tending the smoker for hours because it has to smoke roughly 1 hour per pound . SO--I am going to thaw it out, cut it up and just smoke the breast meat, grind the thighs for burger, put the drumsticks in the soup pot and curry the wings.
So one day next week it will be Esmerelda's turkey soup with whatever vegetables we have lying around. Tomorrow is pea soup because it's been damp and cool here and I cooked a cottage ham the other day and froze the broth.

PS. Dennis, I have another recipe for you and will try to send it later

Re: Turkey
I cut up the 15 lb turkey and I think it was more than 15 lbs because I had to set it in my BIG roasting pan to thaw. So I'm going to smoke the breast, already made soup broth out of the back and neck, thighs will be ground up for turkey burgers, curried wings, and stewed drumsticks.
Lots of turkey meals ahead

Re: Turkey
I now have to cut up that turkey breast as the company I was expecting isn't coming due to a fractured foot.
Anybody want to come up for the summer and help with the garden? My family has let me down, Rick is helping others ALL the time and if I don't get some help I won't have anything to put away for winter.
