Kaea gets new home, as someone else's new home
I am now officially boat-less, as I have sold my boat, Kaea. Here are the most recent photos' of the interior I have; they were taken a little over two weeks ago.
More on my old boat can be found here: http://www.nomadichome.org/floating-homes/sy-kaea/

Boats are a liability if you are not using them. Because I am working such erratic hours, the boat had not had much use, pretty much since we bought a house, six years ago. So it was better for someone else to use it.
My next boat, won't be for a few more years, at least until I can cut back on work. And it will be a smaller boat, whatever it turns out to be. One that comes home with me, when I have finished using it.
I am thinking of a few different types that can be used as trailer accommodation too.

From what I've seen about San Francisco bay, 90% of the boats in any marina get taken out less than twice a year, and I may estimating the usage too high... That's whole bunch of money flowing into the harbor office for close to zero active benefit to the owners - a lot to pay for a dream symbol. Great comment on human psychology - men's anyway because almost all small boats are owned by men... (Lois is a stand out. <g>)

I suspect the bus may end up taking the place that I had intended for the boat. ie I think it could end up as part of the homestead infrastructure. Time will tell, but I am leaning toward something towed, for mobile accommodation. And being aluminium, I think the bus will do quite nicely at the bottom of the section.Dusty wrote:Too bad about the boat Stuart , good news for the bus
ps, I may be passing through your way, in the next couple of weeks.

You probably will find a suitable, smaller boat, but I agree with Dusty ... for now you can now focus on your bus ... sounds like you might have property in mind? ... maybe bottom of the section refers to your current home ... keep up posted ... stay in touch. Doug.

Yes, bottom of the section does mean at my current home.
My brother has suggested coming down with his welding gear, and lifting a section of the roof of the bus, into a mollycroft. The idea to fill the sides of the roof lifting with perspex, or some such. In this scenario, the bus would definitely be parked up permanently, as office, project space. I would then also kit out the interior with insulation and a new fire, and make it a comfortable space to be in, year round.
Other projects to complete first, may start on the bus next year.

I meant to, but time being in short supply, I went right past, in both directions, last week.Dusty wrote:
