1943 White Horse Truck

Post by tamangel »

"...There is a tube to communicate with the horses in the back..."

on ebay..need a project? got many $'s..? Could be a contender...!

"White WC-20B Super Power
Antique 1943 horse truck originally made by The White Motor Company. This White Super Power truck was used as a horse transport truck by Rappahannock Farms before being purchased by my family for the same purpose.

The truck was purchased in 1973 near Stroudsburg Pennsylvania (Delaware Water Gap). We were told that it had been a logging truck that was converted into a horse truck and used by Rappahannock Farms, Rappahannock County Virginia. My family used it to move farm equipment and livestock to Vermont and eventually to Homer Alaska in 1975. In 1980 it was ferried and driven from Homer Alaska to Bass Arkansas where it has been located since.

The cab has plywood paneling and many of the original controls and levers. There is a tube to communicate with the horses in the back. The rear box of the truck has multiple windows and stalls for horses and dual doors on each side for loading/unloading livestock. There is also plenty of storage space over the cab, on top of the truck and on the side compartments of the truck. There is a fold down hay carrier on the back of the truck as well.

The Model number is WC-20B and the Serial number is 386615. The original motor was replaced with a 6-cylinder flat-head motor in 1973. The odometer reads 143,148 miles but I imagine it has rolled over. It has a 5-speed manual transmission with 5th Direct. It has air brakes and dual air horns under the hood.

The truck has been sitting since 1985. It ran when it was originally parked but has never been started since that time. There is lots of rust on the frame parts of the truck and it is a great opportunity for restoration. The stainless body of the truck is in pretty good shape. Nothing has been stripped off the truck. It comes as is. "

That's one well traveled truck- all the way to Alaska and back to Arkansas!
What a sweet house truck it would make- hey, it only takes money!
