Bus update

So, we went and looked at the bus. It is a p-41 canuck. Great lines, aluminum skin and a closed in underbelly. It was converted some time ago and shows it. The "new" fridge and other appliances were new when I was watching sesame street as kid. There was a fair amount of damage to the skin...

Help! I think I might by a second vintage bus.

Well, over coffee this morning I came across a 1961 western flyer coach for sale for $2000.00. This is a picture of the style of bus it is http://busexplorer.com/PHP/MidPage.php?id=954 It is 38' long, 6 cylinder chev diesel pusher with a 5 spd transmission. It was ran by greyhound on a winter route ...

That is a nice looking bus, I can't wait to see the progression. Take lots of photo's! It's nice as you progress through to look at the work you've accomplished as sometimes it feels like you never get very far.

be sure you have the right foundation (one you like, and trust) before putting the time and money it takes to do any type of conversion. They are very time consuming and expensive (even the cheap ones). However it does sound like you have a solid base, aside from the rust. Have you taken it to a sho...

LSD - The beyond within (ken kesey and his bus)

I came across this very interesting documentary on google video that follows the history of LSD. It features ken kesey and has a few clips of his bus. I thought some might be interested. I am not promoting drugs, it's just a neat movie. http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid=5904240612788659431&...

I ran an equalizing charge the other night and that did help. I have heard of people doing this upwards of once a week with good results, assuming full time use. We are heading to BC tommorrow in the bus, where it will stay for a month until we move out. I'll charge it up and leave her. Have a great...

Thanks for the thoughtful reply. I may wait until sping before taking you up on your suggestion of the big 15 volt charge. I have 3 chargers, and all are "intelligent" chargers, however I do have access in the spring to a simpler machine. They have only gotten that low once. Usually when I...

battery's

Yes, I know it is not optimal to mix old batteries together. However the price (free) was too good to pass up. Yes it is the house bank that is lacking. After being charged the resting voltage drops to 12.8. The battery guy I deal with said that is reasonable for older 6v's. I will replace mabye nex...

DJ, why wouldn't you use the heaters your future bus has stock? The risks of running a wood stove on the road seem far to big of a risk when you could just use a little electricity and the heat from you engine (coolant). I used mine in minus 34 degrees celcius (not incl wind chill :) ) and I had to ...

masking tape is the way to go. However most rv's are designed around the toilet. It's sad but true, unless you are willing to go through the work mascerator pumps and other complications. It needs to have direct acess to your black tank. Unfortunatley that is what mine is designed around. Everything...

6V battery problems

Here's one for you Sharkey (and of course all others) I have 8 6v batteries for the house system and 2 8D's for the starting system. I know some might think this is a bit overkill. They cost me nothing though, so I thought why not? I tested them all before putting them in. They were not perfect but ...

bus

Is a 65 pass. bus large enough for you? I have a 54 and wish I would have gone larger. My bus had 450,000 km's on it and required an engine rebuild shortly after purchase. We got a great purchase price, from the fleet, however it required unforseen work. Have a third party (the one who will insuranc...

bus

Wow, big step. Good for you in being pro-active in the direction of your life. I don't live in my bus, however I did convert a 36' long bluebird schoolbus into an rv, twice. There are no hard and fast rules for the costs other than they always cost more than you budget for. They are allot of work an...
