Re: Coming to America

Bank in this instance is a credit union. They did give me a debit/visa card to our joint account, but it still makes things more difficult for accounting purposes, not being able to have a separate account yet. Car dealer issues have been concluded. We got a base model AWD Subaru Impreza each. Both ...

Re: Coming to America

The two biggest issues I have had are dealing with the car dealer, and dealing with the bank. The car dealer, because they are car dealers, so struggle to behave honestly, and tend to be surprised when pulled up on it. And the bank, because they don't understand that a green card is a representation...

Re: Coming to America

Yes I did make it. Still getting settled in. I now have a social security card, which in theory should make everything much easier, but not necessarily. Did my driver license theory test a couple of weeks ago, and doing the practical in a couple of days. Then I can start work on a CDL. Was supposed ...

Re: Coming to America

Driving is my plan B option, but since I haven't figured anything else to do yet, that's what I will start with. Always good to have a plan B option, as this one has saved me before.

Coming to America

After inappropriately posting on another thread about this, I figured I should start a new thread. Why South Dakota? It's where my mother in law lives. on the western side of the state. What kind of trucks will I drive? Big ones, they are what I am comfortable in, and there is generally plenty of wo...

Re: Tiny house on a trailer

This is the entirely wrong thread for me to post in, but seems to be where all of the action is. I'm moving to the States in a few weeks. Have been approved for a green card, have the visa stamped in my passport and plane tickets booked. Will be driving trucks in the near term, so may have the possi...

You must have been devastated by that Dennis. Didn't you build that for your home?

Re: Union HS bus conversion

Looks like that school takes education seriously. Think of the range of learning outcomes, through a one hour class over two years.

Interesting, I didn't realize that there were electric igniters, that were not piezio.

Thanks for this update! It never occurred to me that you could retrofit a piezio ignition system to a stove.

Re: Covid-19

Had my second shot about three days ago. 24 hours after was a little lethargic, and developed a throbbing headache while at work (Operating a ship to shore container crane), took one paracetamol tablet, and have had no issues since.

Re: Covid-19

Had my first Pfizer vaccine shot three days ago. I found it easier than the flu shot. No side effects from the first shot, and am booked in for the second shot three weeks after the first.
