Re: Tiny house on a trailer

You must have been devastated by that Dennis. Didn't you build that for your home?

Sharkey is back!

I received an email from Sharkey this morning. He is in the process of resurrecting his old website.
It is now at http://www.housetrucks.org/

Re: Union HS bus conversion

Looks like that school takes education seriously. Think of the range of learning outcomes, through a one hour class over two years.

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus

Interesting, I didn't realize that there were electric igniters, that were not piezio.

Re: 1935 Chevy school bus

Thanks for this update! It never occurred to me that you could retrofit a piezio ignition system to a stove.

Re: Covid-19

Had my second shot about three days ago. 24 hours after was a little lethargic, and developed a throbbing headache while at work (Operating a ship to shore container crane), took one paracetamol tablet, and have had no issues since.

Re: Covid-19

Had my first Pfizer vaccine shot three days ago. I found it easier than the flu shot. No side effects from the first shot, and am booked in for the second shot three weeks after the first.

Re: Covid-19

Sorry, they are still making it excessively difficult to get in here. On the upside those of us that work at the border should be starting to get our vaccinations in a week or so.

Re: sunday night chat

At some point I will look at getting chat working again. There is an XMPP server running on the same server as the forum, I just need to work out how to connect the two again.

Re: Learning to weld

Finished the MIG course. We were given some 6mm (1/4 ") plate to play with, which I found more enjoyable, probably because it was easier to weld. We only used mild steel on the MIG course, and went through open corner, butt, butt with gap, lap, fillet, pipe, vertical up, and over head welds. La...

Re: Learning to weld

It is still so new to me, that things are still pretty hit and miss. But it is starting to sink in. And yes Jack, it is fun. I've only done one night on Aluminium and one night on stainless steel so far (TIG only), so should get one more night on each of those. Two nights of MIG and three nights of ...

Learning to weld

For years, I have wanted to learn how to weld. Four weeks ago I started a five week night school class. Two nights per week of TIG and two nights MIG. https://stuartcrawford.co.nz/images/welding.jpg TIG corner weld mild steel https://stuartcrawford.co.nz/images/corner-tig-weld-mild-steel.jpg MIG fil...

Getting things done

The title of this topic is somewhat backward, in that the result of a search has ended here, not that the search started here. Going back a few years, when I had a preoccupation for learning how to set up web sites. I was using what are called dynamic websites (this forum is such a one). What a dyna...

Re: Covid-19

I'll go first. Here in New Zealand, we went onto a war footing, as a country when we went into lock down in March. As I work in a container terminal (Ships), we are regarded as an essential service. As such, the government ordered us to work through, whilst at the same time developing a different wo...

Covid-19

I think it's time that the forum had a place for this topic. Early on in the pandemic I saw a piece with a psychologist who said that in time, they would be able to put the P at the beginning of traumatic stress disorder (P.T.S.D). This is fitting, because society as a whole is being subjected to a ...
