I can't speak for others, but I will point out that it's still young spring in most of the northern hemisphere. Very few bus enthusiasts have a place to work on their chariots out of the rain and snow. Give the planet a few more weeks/months to warm up and you'll be seeing what you hope to see. Tinn...

Surprise by the side of the road
Mornin all.
Back in the rainy months, as we drove across the Island, we saw this beauty of a project on the side of the road. I thought you guys might appreciate it.

Super cool approach!
Wow, that's installing a stove! The fellow at mobilehomestead.com, in his prolific posting, convinced me I shouldn't adhere my stove to the rig with cement, in case it needs to be removed in a hurry. I've been completely stalled in my bus progress, but I'm planning my hearth to involve cotter pins o...

Thanks
Jerry, Apologies for the lack of response - work called me out of town rather unexpectedly. I've got a line on some salvage tires in the Eugene area, I should hear back tomorrow (Friday) if they're going to work. If that fails me, I'll drop all my info on you. thanks for the backup, bruce

Tires...
Allright, I need to put tires on the old housebus (6 of 'em). Whats on there now simply won't go, the tow driver was worried they were going to blow on the way to the garage. Schwab can get me Nylon w/ tubes for 1002$. It's 1700$ for the Radials. We're not going to be doing much sight-seeing - mostl...

Thanks for the data!
Thanks guys,
It sounds like just the place I need.
As soon as I know my schedule, I'll drop you a line Sharkey. I'd love to do a bit of shopping (and shootin?) with you.

Tips for installing a wood stove?
Greetings, I'm about to embark in the wood stove installation portion of my bus. I'd love to hear any tips/pitfalls others have encountered. I'm mostly interested in how you've fashioned heatshields and hearths for the tight quarters. I'm also interested in how you passed the pipe through the roof o...

Thanks for the assistance
Using the resources posted here, we were able to track down 4 brake cylinders. 2 of them fit perfectly. The other 2 were the right size, but missing the second set of ports for balancing the pressure between them. The solution was to drill them out and then craft the necessary set of push rods. A lo...

Where to get a stove in Eugene?
Greetings, It looks like I'll be heading down Eugene way in a few weeks to pick up our housebus. The mechanics have been challenged to get it back on the road, but they're nearing the end. The next most critical item I need to lay my hands on is a propane stove and oven for the bus. I've heard rumor...

No pics online yet...
I've been takin' pics. I'm able to sneak onto the forums while I'm at work. <grin> When I'm not at work, I'm working on the bus! Once the family is actually sheltered in the rigs I'll have time to sit down and whip up a web site. The rains started in earnest this weekend, we're a few weeks behind sc...

Thanks
Excellent! The Muffler trick, and putting it in gear were missing from my lists! The honest truth is I'll probably get the tires up on blocks/wood, but I doubt I'll get around to lifting them far enough let the wheels spin. I'd like to, but the nights are sure getting longer and colder. Thanks Tinne...

How to keep yer bus running while sitting?
Alright, This question gets me a different answer from everyone I ask, but I figure you guys w/ experience probably know what's best. I've got 2 busses that will be running great and really should be on the road every week. But they're going to sit and be our homes for a while. I don't want to drain...

Wiring 2 busses together
Dig, I know, this is pretty non-standard... We'll have 2 busses - Habitation bus, and Library Bus. They are primarily non-rolling (we are homesteading, and plan to move homestead several times - hence the busses). To save scratch, and to keep things realistic, we have a single shore power drop, and ...

Tin Foil on yer chakras
Thanks for all the shout-out. I don't wear the Tin on my head - it's not the neighbors you have to worry about - it's the radiant energy bandits working out of Roswell! A small circle of tin foil, applied w/ bone paste over each of your chakra's will render you invisible. The Bandits need those arc'...

Windows - How to keep the cold out
My constant questions don't seem to get me blacklisted, so I'll try another. I've got 2 weeks of vacation to turn my sKoolie into a living room. We're keeping all the windows in place, because light is more valuable than beer up here in the winter. But, then it begs the question - how should we cove...
