That's OK, remember that you can use the magic "Delete" button until someone esle replies to the post or the time limit expires (I have to figure out what that's set to be. There's also a "Hall Pass" for editing and deletion, that I think Rudy has right now...)

Wich is true, that's why I was very careful when assembling to observe the arrow indicating flow direction. In this circuit, the flow is right-to-left, discharge is after the check valve.

An interesting note is that you can buy ¼" sheetrock, I used it around my fireplace. It's at least twice as strong as ½" sheetrock, I guess that use a different compuound so that it's not flimsy. It's about three times harder to cut through with a razor knife than regular rock. Using this would ma...

Water, water, everywhere

As many project posts as I'm making, the appearance might be that I'm actually efficient at getting things done, but that's all it is, an appearance... Four years ago after I first moved here, I got a sudden lesson in hydraulics when the spring quit during a storm. At the time, I was down with the f...

Hi Alan, thanks for registering. I was having this discussion just today at lunch over the phone with TMAX. Not only do I have a popcorn ceiling, I have popcorn ceiling heat. What this means is that a 3/8" lath of narrow sheetrock was applied over the ceiling joists, then electric cable was arrayed ...

Stupid Popcorn Ceiling

AKA, "Stupid Cottage Cheese Ceiling". Since all it's done for the last two and a half months is rain, I decided it was time to get back into working inside my house, it needs to be ready to move into before winter, and at the rate I get things done, I'll need every minute between now and then. The p...

Staying out of trouble, the hard way!

About a year or so ago, a large cedar tree on the other side of the creek fell over, it's roots weren't enough to hold it up in the sandy soil anymore. It was really a shame, as it was a big tree, and healthy as far as I could see. It lay partially across a bend in the creek bed, with it's top resti...

I treid burning bears, they are difficult to get ignited and they don't put out much heat once they are started.

If I worked on my house as diligently as Randy works on his cars, I'd have moved in a long time ago. The "Decoliner" (it has a name now) is getting a skin. The cab is now painted too: http://www.mrsharkey.com/forum/gfx/decoliner1.jpg Say, that grille looks suspiciously like half of Dennis' new WiFi ...

It's an "Inverted V", fed with ladder line, very similar to what Jerry was describing. I'm a little concerned about that balled-up wad of feedline on a stick, though. Such a coiling of the line forms an inductor, which can act as an RF choke at radio frequencies. Better to play any excess out in a l...

More virus fun tonight. I managed to get my laptop reinfected over the summer by allowing it to connect to the neighbor's WiFi, but I noticed it right away and used the MSRT to kill off Conficker once again. For the last several days, I've been doing my 2010 income taxes on the laptop (because the t...

Antennas, another project. I have a 30 foot aluminum tower I want to put up on the side of the garage, but there's a crappy shed in the way that needs to be knocked down first. I also own 90 feet of Rohn 25 tower that's out on loan, I should get that back. Since I'm accumulating gear one bit at a ti...

I wasn't trying to call you out, I have a lot of respect for anyone who has enough curiosity and stick-to-it-ness to mess with making wood gas, etc. Most people never make ~any~ energy, so I always gripes me when someone bad-mouths PV, biodeisel, etc. At least we are *producing* something rather tha...
