Google maps still has the half mile long row of crap our government bought and then threw out at Abu Ghraib Prison. The Yanmar engine in this picture, was thrown out along with a mate. I made it a personal mission to offer each and every man (and the girl) in my unit a light set generator to take ho...

Normally, I like to write about things I know. Even things, I think I know. I don't know computer specific things like what this thread is about. Still, this is a social forum, and I feel compelled to comment. I am dismayed with the viruses plaguing computers. I am helpless when the computers I use ...

Alrighty, After enjoying my large portion of crow, I decided to get over feeling mad because I was ignorant. One thing that Mr. Sharkey said has rang true from my experience with both biodiesel and waste vegatable oil. Both will eat rubber eventually. If Esters are doing it, that is fine. What is im...

Hey! Mr. Sharkey, If you get time for some of this..... 1. Could you post some pictures of the types of batteries you find to be salvageable? I would save them at the junk yard when the come in, if I knew what I was looking for. I have never seen the Fe-Ni batteries nor Ni-Cads. 2. I was reading the...

Well for the letters...I would normally ask Vanna White, but she hasn't stopped by so...I'd guess E, S, or T.

Man, I always thought Dulce was something to do with music. Or an Italian dictator.

Rudy, Ronnie Montrose......man that was at the tip of my tongue and I just couldn't get there. Both those guitarists remind me of my grandfather's living room, where I first sat between the big JBLs and heard those guys play. I had the picture but couldn't associate the names with that picture. OBTW...

Perhaps this may help, I have owned my Nissan SD22 four cylinder diesel since 1989. I bought it in West Germany, with 30000 miles on it. I drove it 60000 miles without having to do anything to the engine. At 90000 miles I replaced the Airconditioning belt. Years ago, the body got too rough to use, b...

Therein lies the rub, as they say. Before I poured homemade fuel into an '07 anything, I'd have to dig deep into the books and find out all that Cummins or Nissan, etc., had to say about their fuel and emission systems. The learning curve is huge and could lead to a dead end. There are no easy answe...

To clean the oil, one has to remove the acid, metals, and soot. This can be done cheaply. The cost per gallon for cleaning oil to use as fuel can be brought down to pennies per gallon, depending on the scale. If its a one off experiment, its not worth it. If its a question of making several thousand...

Whoa! I think we need a sanity check here. Mr. Sharkey's point is don't use used motor oil to save money on fuel for your new diesel engine. I would agree. In fact, I don't know anybody, commercial, or otherwise who has a new or newer (read computer controlled injector pump) who would even consider ...

Aside from the settling and filtering, one could also warm the oil and use a centerfuge like this one, which filters about 55 gallons per hour.

Another method is floculation of the soot particles using methanol.

Ezrablu!
Those three youtube videos were hilarious. The boys and I just watched them, and darn near got into trouble because their mother was shooing us off to bed.
Thanks, for the laughs.

Sorry,
Yeah, guess I don't know what I am talking about. Esters are a type of bond present in vegtable oil. Mr. Sharkey is right.
