Ok, I know I was wrong to buy a bus with hydraulic brakes but I did anyway. Does anyone have any ideas why my front wheels are taking turns locking up when I barely step on the brakes? I did have leaking wheel cylinders. I fixed them and bled the brakes thoroughly. I have heard that contaminated bra...

My AMA membership includes roadside assistance for no extra charge including rv's but they aren't going to tow it. It's probably limited to gas and jump starts. I think this plus good sam should have me covered. I insure it as a motorhome so I'll probably just say motorhome. I wonder if they have ag...

They don't have a problem with skoolie conversions? I'm wondering if I need to say "71 Ford motorhome".

Thanks for the offer James. I might take you up on that. I also appreciate any ideas on towing and travel. I have driven cross country dozens of times and I plan on either trailering or getting a dolly for the scout.I'm not as worried about small mechanical issues as a mammoth tow bill if it has pro...

I like this idea alot. The old volkwagen people have a loose knit organization called A.I.R.S. Aircooled Interstate Rescue (something) . It's just a list of vw enthusiasts nationwide who would be willing to help if you become stranded. I know, there are alot more vw's than skoolie owners but that wo...

I am working on some willow furniture designs that I can sell at craft shows this spring. Hoping to turn my trip across country into more of an extended working adventure. I figure this will help me take my time and take care of the old bus. As fun as this is going to be, long distance voyages in yo...

Look at thermal mass rocket stoves. They use much less wood and make very little smoke. I'm making one for my bus. I'll tell you how it works but these are all over youtube. I had to modify the design for a vehicle but I think it will work.

They probably don't have a choice. It's not like it's a recreational trip. Those people have to get to work even when it rains.

It seems obvious to me that this is an intentional collapse. Everything in America is about the profit of a small group of people. Even the food stamp program is a for-profit business run by JP Morgan. These people need to make big changes to their business structures from time to time that require ...

OK. I was afraid you'd say something about them being mechanically junk. I'm ok with the less refined tractor-like engineering of the Fords. I've also had about twenty old Ford trucks. I don't have a specific preference other than American made, but old Fords always seem to be inexpensive and still ...

This is my fourth Ford bus so I have little frame of reference for comparison. Is there any particular problem I should be worried about? I'm guessing parts availability may be the problem.

71 Ford Housebus

I figured I'd start with some before pics of my new toy/home. It needs alot of remodeling but I have a head start from a previous conversion.Image
