Hello there
When ply lining my truck will 9mm do the job? Im unsure as to whether this could take the weight of book shelves and kitchen cabinets on a moving vehicle over the years. Or would 12mm or even 15mm be better?
what do u chaps reckon?
suitible thickness lining for housetruck walls?

Hi DMan, the interior paneling in my truck is ¼" (6mm). Small items like picture frames, thermometers, clocks, calendars, small light fixtures are supported just fine on the thin ply. Heavier items like bookshelves, medicine cabinet, coat hooks, etc are positioned so that I can run a screw through the paneling to the ¾" (18mm) wood lath that is connected to the metal framing of the truck.
If you aren't planning on any structural wood under your interior paneling, I'd say that you'd want ½" (12mm) at a minimum.
The heaviest items in my truck have large sheet metal screws that pierce both the paneling and the wood lath, and take root in the metal framing itself. These include the refrigerator cabinet and a set of "Omni Mount" support arms for my loudspeakers on the wall.
You are wise to not want to have things rolling around loose in the living space of the truck!
