The Long Long Trailer starring Lucile Ball and Desi Arnez

Post by dburt »

If you have never watched the old classic movie "The Long Long Trailer" starring Desi Arnez and Lucile Ball, you need to watch it. I have had the movie in video form for about 6 years, and they now have it on DVD. I have an 11 year old grandson, and it is his favorite movie! (This kid rides dirtbikes, shoots in pistol competition matches, pitches a mean fast ball in little league, he's no sissy)

The movie is a classic look at the RV lifestyle in the 1950's, and is of course a comedy. It was made in 1953. If you have not seen it, you will really like it! And the old trailers are a kick to see also!

OMG!
I lived in a trailer just like that for 6 years. I traded a 3/4ton FWD 78 ford for it. My grandpa put new birch paneling in the bed room. I bought 20 acres in South Boardman MI and ended up towing that trailer to the property with my '65 Buick Wildcat (with a 425cid nail head engine, and a THM400 transmission with variable pitch stator).
I turned 18 cooking hot dogs over a fire with the realty sign as a grill. The Buick buried in the blow sand, and the trailer parked over an old oil well.
I really liked that trailer. It was easy to clean. I ended up trading it for a '54 Chevy bus converted to a motor home. I left the bus at my grandpas and went off to Germany for four years...

That's just one of the Lucy pranks in the movie! My grandson who is 11 says it is his favorite movie. This is a kid who is a top pistol shooter in his age group, rides a mean 4-wheeler ATV and dirt bike in motocross, loves to shoot bow and arrow, he's no namby pamby kid. And he loves The Long Long Trailer!
